And grain having husks and scented plants (55:12) |
وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ |
scented plants |
رَيْحَان |
And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire (55:15) |
وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ |

مَارِجٌ |
He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame (111:3) |
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ |

لَهَبٌ |
From both of them emerge pearl and coral (55:22) |
يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ |

From both of them emerge pearl and coral (55:22) |
يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ |

As if they were rubies and cora (55:58) |
كَأَنَّهُنَّ الْيَاقُوتُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ |

يَاقُوتٌ |
Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor (55:78) |
تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ |
The Majesty |
جَلَالٌ |
And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord (72:3) |
وَأَنَّهُ تَعَالَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا |
The Majesty |
جَدٌّ |
What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur (71:13) |
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّـهِ وَقَارًا |

وَقَارٌ |
There will be sent upon you a flame of fire (55:35) |
يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ |

شُوَاظٌ |
Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress (77:32) |
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ |

شَرَرٌ |
And the producers of sparks [when] striking (100:2) |
فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحًا |
striking |
قَدْحٌ |
And it becomes rose-colored like murky oil (55:37) |
فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ |

وَرْدَةٌ |
They will be given drink from a boiling spring (88:5) |
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ |
Boiling water |
آنٍ، آنِيَةٌ |
Reclining on green cushions (55:76) |
مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ |

رَفْرَفَةٌ ج رَفْرَفٌ |
And cushions lined up (88:15) |
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ |

نَمَارِقُ |
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets (55:76) |
مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ |

عَبْقَرِيٌّ |
And carpets spread around (88:16) |
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ |

زَرْبِيَّهٌ ج زَرَابِيٌّ |
Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets (55:76) |
مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ |
beautiful |
حَسَنَةٌ، حَسْنَاءُ ج حِسَانٌ |
and we made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind (50:7) |
وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِيجٍ |
beautiful |
بَهِيجٌ |
On thrones woven [with ornament] (56:15) |
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ |
decorated |
مَوْضُونَةٌ |
With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring –(56:18) |
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ |
jugs |
إبْرِيقٌ ج أَبَارِيقُ |
No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated –(56:19) |
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ |
headache(happening) |
صَدَّعَ-يُصَدِّعُ |
[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed (56:28) |
فِي سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ |
thornless |
مَخْضُودٌ |
And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] (56:29) |
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ |

طَلْحٌ |
And made them virgins (56:36) |
فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا |

بِكْرٌ ج أَبْكَارٌ |
previously married and virgins (66:5) |
ثَيِّبَاتٍ وَأَبْكَارًا |
previously married |
ثَيِّبَةٌ ج ثَيِّبَاتٌ |
Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age (56:37) |
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا |
Devoted |
عَرُوبٌ ج عُرُبٌ |
We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers (56:73) |
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ |
traveler |
مُقْوٍ ج مُقْوُونَ |
But monasticism they innovated, We prescribed it not for them (57:27) |
وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ |
To innovate |
اِبْتَدَعَ-يَبْتَدِعُ |
You know not; perhaps Allah will bring about after that a [different] matter (65:1) |
لَا تَدْرِي لَعَلَّ اللَّـهَ يُحْدِثُ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ أَمْرًا |
to bring about after a different matter |
أَحْدَثَ- يُحْدِثُ |
when you are told, "Space yourselves" in assemblies, then make space; (58:11) |
إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا فِي الْمَجَالِسِ فَافْسَحُوا |
to make space |
تَفَسَّحَ-يَتَفَسَّحُ |
Allah will make space for you. (58:11) |
يَفْسَحِ اللَّـهُ لَكُمْ |
to make space |
فَسحَ-يَفْسَحُ |
And when you are told, "Arise," then arise (58:11) |
وَإِذَا قِيلَ انشُزُوا فَانشُزُوا |
to arise |
نَشَزَ-يَنْشُزُ |
They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah (58:16) |
اِتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّـهِ |

جُنَّةٌ |
They fight in His cause in a row as though they are a [single] structure joined firmly(61:4) |
يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ صَفًّا كَأَنَّهُم بُنْيَانٌ مَّرْصُوصٌ |

مَرْصُوصٌ |
[They are] as if they were pieces of wood propped up (63:4) |
كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُّسَنَّدَةٌ |
to prop up |
مُسَنَّدَةٌ |
but if you are in discord, then there may breastfeed for the father another woman. (65:6) |
وَإِن تَعَاسَرْتُمْ فَسَتُرْضِعُ لَهُ أُخْرَىٰ |
to discord |
تَعَاسَرَ-يَتَعَاسَرُ |
O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month (5:2) |
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُحِلُّوا شَعَائِرَ اللَّـهِ وَلَا الشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ |
to violate |
تَحِلَّةٌ |
repent to Allah with sincere repentance (66:8) |
تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّـهِ تَوْبَةً نَّصُوحًا |
sincere |
نَصُوحٌ |
You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency(67:3) |
مَّا تَرَىٰ فِي خَلْقِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِن تَفَاوُتٍ |
inconsistency |
تَفَاوُتٌ |
its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?" (67:8) |
سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌ |
keeper |
خَازِنٌ ج خَزَنَةٌ |
We found it filled with powerful guards(72:8) |
فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا |

حَرَسٌ |
walk among its slopes(67:15) |
فَامْشُوا فِي مَنَاكِبِهَا |
slopes |
مَنكِبٌ ج مَنَاكِبُ |
Rather, we have been deprived (68:27) |
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ |
deprived |
مَحْرُومٌ ج مَحْرُومُونَ |
and on the Day of Judgment they will be among the loathed (and despised). (28: 42) |
وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ هُم مِّنَ الْمَقْبُوحِينَ |
ugly, |
مَقْبُوحٌ ج مَقْبُحُونَ |
Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender(68:13) |
عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ |
illegitimate pretender |
زَنِيمٌ |
when he called out while he was distressed (68:48) |
إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ |
distressed |
مَكْظُومٌ |
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes (68:51) |
وَإِن يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ |
To make slip |
أَزْلَقَ-يُزْلِقُ |
you would see the people therein fallen (69:7) |
فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ |
fallen |
صَرِيعٌ ج صَرْعَى |
And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm (69:16) |
وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ |
infirm |
وَاهِيَةٌ |
So he will be in a pleasant life (69:21) |
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ |
pleasant life |
عِيْشَةٌ |
Indeed, mankind was created anxious (70:19) |
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا |
Anxious |
هَلُوعٌ |
A remover of exteriors(70:16) |
نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ |
remover of exteriors |
نَزَّاعَةٌ |
While He has created you in stages? (71:14) |
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا |
stages |
طَوْرٌ ج أًطْوَارٌ |
O you who wraps himself (73:1) |
يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّلُ |
wrapped up |
مُزَّمِّلٌ |
O you who covers himself (74:1) |
يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ |
covered |
مُدَّثِّرٌ |
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words(73:6) |
إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ اللَّيْلِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطْئًا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا |
effective hours |
نَاشِئَةٌ |
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words(73:6) |
إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ اللَّيْلِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطْئًا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا |
concurrence |
وَطْءٌ |
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion (73:8) |
وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا |
to devote |
تَبَتَّلَ-يَتَبَتَّلُ |
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion (73:8) |
وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا |
to devote |
تَبْتِيلٌ |
And food that chokes and a painful punishment (73:13) |
وَطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّةٍ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًا |
choke |
غُصَّةٌ |
and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. (73:14) |
وَكَانَتِ الْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًا |

كَثِيبٌ |
and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. (73:14) |
وَكَانَتِ الْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًا |
pouring down |
مَهِيلٌ |
Fleeing from a lion?(74:51) |
فَرَّتْ مِن قَسْوَرَةٍ |
lion |
قَسْوَرَةٌ |
I swear by the reproaching soul (75:2) |
أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ |
reproaching soul |
لَوَّامَةٌ |
When the soul has reached the collar bones(75:26) |
إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ |
collar bone |
تُرْقُوَةٌ ج تَرَاقٍ |
Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking(75:25) |
تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ |
back breaking |
فَاقِرَةٌ |
And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"(75:27) |
وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ |
curate |
رَاقٍ |
And the leg is wound about the leg(75:29) |
وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ |
Infold, cover oneself with, wrap oneself in |
الْتَفَّ-يَلْتِفُّ |
Does man think that he will be left neglected?(75:36) |
أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى |

سُدًى |
They will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur,(76:5) |
يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا |

كَافُورٌ |
You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure(83:24) |
تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ |
radiance of pleasure |
نَضْرَةٌ |
And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger(76:17) |
وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا |

زَنْجَبِيلٌ |
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal(76:19) |
وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ |
eternal young boys |
مُخَلَّدٌ ج مُخَلَّدُونَ |
And when the messengers' time has come(77:11) |
وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ |
time has come |
أَقَّتَ-يُؤَقِّتُ |
And full-breasted [companions] of equal age(78:33) |
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا |
full-breasted companion |
كَاعِبٌ ج كَوَاعِبُ |
By those [angels] who extract with violence(79:1) |
وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا |
violent angel |
نَازِعَةٌ ج نَازِعَاتٌ |
And [by] those who remove with ease(79:2) |
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا |
Ease angel |
نَاشِطَةٌ ج نَاشِطَاتٌ |
And [by] those who remove with ease(79:2) |
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا |
to remove with ease |
نَشْطٌ |
They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?(79:10) |
يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ |
former state |
حَافِرَةٌ |
The Prophet frowned and turned away(80:1) |
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ |
to frown |
عَبَسَ-يَعْبَسُ |
And by the night as it closes in(81:17) |
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ |
to close |
عَسْعَسَ |
And by the dawn when it breathes(81:18) |
وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ |
to breathe |
تَنَفَّسَ-يَتَنَفَّسُ |
And when the [contents of] graves are scattered(82:4) |
وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ |
to scatter |
بَعْثَرَ-يُبَعْثِرُ |
Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full(83:2) |
الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ |
to demand in full |
اِسْتَوْفَى |
the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.(83:14) |
رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
rust |
رَانَ-يَرِينُ |
Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned(83:15) |
إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ |
partitioned |
مَحْجُوبٌ ج مَحْجُوبُونَ |
The last of it is musk(83:26) |
خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ |
musk |
مِسْكٌ |
And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances(83:30) |
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ |
derisive glances |
تَغَامَزَ-يَتَغَامَزُ |
By the sky and the night comer(86:1) |
وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ |
night comer |
طَارِقٌ |
He was created from a fluid, ejected(86:6) |
خُلِقَ مِن مَّاءٍ دَافِقٍ |
ejected |
دَافِقٌ |
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs(86:7) |
يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ |
rib |
تَرِيبَةٌ ج تَرَائِبُ |
Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger(88:7) |
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِن جُوعٍ |
nourish |
أسْمَنَ-يُسْمِنُ |
And at the earth - how it is spread out?(88:20) |
وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ |
spread out |
سَطحَ |
And [by] the even [number] and the odd(89:3) |
وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ |
even |
شَفْعٌ |
And [by] the even [number] and the odd(89:3) |
وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ |
odd |
وَتْرٌ |
And a tongue and two lips?(90:9) |
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ |
lip |
شَفَةٌ |
And [by] the night when it covers with darkness(93:2) |
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ |
darkness |
سَجَا-يَسْجُو |
By the fig and the olive(95:1) |
وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ |
fig |
تِينٌ |
We will call the angels of Hell(96:18) |
سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ |
angels of Hell |
زَبَانِيَةٌ |
disbelievers among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] (98:1) |
مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ |
return |
مُنْفَكٌّ ج مُنْفَكُّونَ |
And the producers of sparks [when] striking(100:2) |
فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحًا |
spark |
مُوْرِيَةٌ ج مُوْرِيَاتٌ |
And the chargers at dawn(100:3) |
فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحًا |
charger |
مُغِيرَةٌ ج مُغِيرَاتٌ |
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed(101:4) |
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ |

فَرَاشٌ |
|

dispersed |
مَنْفُوشٌ |
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?(105:1) |
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ |

فِيْلٌ |
For the accustomed security of the Quraysh(106:1) |
لِإِيلَافِ قُرَيْشٍ |
security |
إيلَافٌ |
Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.(108:3) |
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ |
cut off |
أَبْتَرُ |
From the evil of the retreating whisperer(114:4) |
مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ |
