Worship none but Allah; be good to your parents (2:83) |
لَا تَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا اللَّهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا |
Parents |
وَالِدَانِ |
he removed your parents from Paradise, (7-27) |
أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ الْجَنَّةِ |
parents |
أَبَوَانِ |
no father will avail his son, (31-33) |
لَّا يَجْزِي وَالِدٌ عَن وَلَدِهِ |
father |
وَالِدٌ |
No mother should be harmed through her child, (2-233) |
لَا تُضَارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا |
mother |
وَالِدَةٌ |
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign. (23-50) |
وَجَعَلْنَا ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ آيَةً |
mother |
أُمٌّ (ج) أُمَّهَاتٌ |
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, (26-18) |
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا |
child |
وَلِيدٌ (ج) وِلْدَانٌ |
No mother should be harmed through her child, (2-233) |
لَا تُضَارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا |
child |
وَلَدٌ (ج) أَوْلَادٌ |
It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; (40-67) |
هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا |

طِفْلٌ (ج) أَطْفَالٌ |
So give the relative his right, (30-38) |
فَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَىٰ حَقَّهُ |

قُرْبَى |
they do not observe concerning you any pact of kinship or covenant of protection? (9-8) |
لَا يَرْقُبُوا فِيكُمْ إِلًّا وَلَا ذِمَّةً |
kinship |
إلٌّ |
And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. (25-54) |
وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا |
[a relative by] lineage |
نَسَبٌ (ج) أَنْسَابٌ |
And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. (25-54) |
وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا |

صِهْرٌ |
So do not be harsh with the orphan (93:9) |
فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ |
Orphan |
يَتِيْمٌ (ج) يَتَامَى |
and does not urge others to feed the needy. (107:3) |
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ |
Needy |
مِسْكِينٌ (ج) مَسَاكِينُ |
Whether one is rich or poor, (4-135) |
إِن يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا |
poor |
فَقِيرٌ (ج) فُقَرَاءُ |
and the poor according to his capability. (2-236) |
وَعَلَى الْمُقْتِرِ قَدَرُهُ |
poor |
مُقْتِرٌ |
Did He not find you in need and make you self-sufficient? (93:8) |
وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ |
needy |
عَائِلٌ |
and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent. (17-29) |
فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَّحْسُورًا |
insolvent |
مَحْسُورٌ |
and feed the miserable and poor. (22-28) |
وَأَطْعِمُوا الْبَائِسَ الْفَقِيرَ |
miserable |
بَائِسٌ |
the wealthy according to his capability. (2-236) |
عَلَى الْمُوسِعِ قَدَرُهُ |
wealthy |
مُوسِعٌ (ج) مُوسِعُونَ |
who said, "Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich." (3-181) |
قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ فَقِيرٌ وَنَحْنُ أَغْنِيَاءُ |
rich |
غَنِيٌّ (ج) أَغْنِيَاءُ |
Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help. (23-64) |
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِم بِالْعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمْ يَجْأَرُونَ |
affluent |
مُتْرَفٌ (ج) مُتْرَفُونَ |
For them will be the Home of Peace with their Lord. (6-127) |
لَهُمْ دَارُ السَّلَامِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ |
home |
دَارٌ (ج) دِيَارٌ |
Let them worship the Lord of this House, (106-3) |
فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَٰذَا الْبَيْتِ |
house |
بَيْتٌ (ج) بُيُوتٌ |
There was for [the tribe of] Saba' in their dwelling place a sign: (34-15) |
لَقَدْ كَانَ لِسَبَإٍ فِي مَسْكَنِهِمْ آيَةٌ |
dwelling place |
مَسْكَنٌ (ج) مَسَاكِنُ |
"We have acknowledged it." (3-81) |
قَالُوا أَقْرَرْنَا |
acknowledge |
أَقَرَّ-يُقِرُّ |
And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, (2-85) |
وَإِن يَأْتُوكُمْ أُسَارَىٰ تُفَادُوهُمْ |
captive |
أَسِيرٌ (ج) أَسْرَى، أُسَارَى |
[so that] a party you killed, and you took captive a party. (33-26) |
تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًا |
take captive, arrest |
أَسَرَ-يَأْسِرُ |
And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, (2-85) |
وَإِن يَأْتُوكُمْ أُسَارَىٰ تُفَادُوهُمْ |
ransom |
فَادَى-يُفِيدُ (فِدَاءٌ) |
they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby from the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection. (39-47) |
لَافْتَدَوْا بِهِ مِن سُوءِ الْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ |
ransom |
اِفْتَدَى-يَفْتَدِي |
although their eviction was forbidden to you. (2-85) |
مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِخْرَاجُهُمْ |
forbidden |
مُحَرَّمٌ، مُحَرَّمَةٌ |
Say, "Have you seen what Allah has sent down to you of provision of which you have made [some] lawful and [some] unlawful?" (10-59) |
قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُم مَّا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ فَجَعَلْتُم مِّنْهُ حَرَامًا وَحَلَالًا |
unlawful |
حَرَامٌ (ج) حُرُمٌ |
And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; (6-138) |
قَالُوا هَٰذِهِ أَنْعَامٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌ |
forbidden |
حِجْرٌ |
This is lawful and this is unlawful (16-116) |
هَٰذَا حَلَالٌ وَهَٰذَا حَرَامٌ |
lawful |
حَلَالٌ |
[They are] avid listeners to falsehood, devourers of [what is] unlawful. (5-42) |
سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ أَكَّالُونَ لِلسُّحْتِ |
unlawful |
سُحْتٌ |
Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, (56-33) |
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ |
forbidden |
مَمْنُوعَةٌ |
This is lawful and this is unlawful (16-116) |
هَٰذَا حَلَالٌ وَهَٰذَا حَرَامٌ |
lawful |
حِلٌّ ، حَلَالٌ |
And Allah wants to lighten for you [your difficulties]; (4-28) |
يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَن يُخَفِّفَ عَنكُمْ |
lighten |
خَفَّفَ-يُخَفِّفُ (تَخْفِيفٌ) |
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair. (43-75) |
لَا يُفَتَّرُ عَنْهُمْ وَهُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ |
subside |
فَتَّرَ-يُفَتِّرُ |
and followed up after him with messengers. (2-87) |
وَقَفَّيْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِ بِالرُّسُلِ |
follow up |
قَفَّى-يُقَفِّي |
and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] (2-262) |
ثُمَّ لَا يُتْبِعُونَ مَا أَنفَقُوا مَنًّا وَلَا أَذًى |
follow up |
أَتْبَعَ-يُتْبِعُ |
And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession. (25-62) |
وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً |
succession |
خِلْفَةٌ |
Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another." (8-9) |
أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُم بِأَلْفٍ مِّنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ |
following |
مُرْدِفٌ (ج) مُرْدِفُونَ |
There will follow it the subsequent [one]. (79-7) |
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ |
following |
رَادِفَةٌ |
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. (23-44) |
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَىٰ |
succession |
تَتْرَى |
So there has [now] come to you a clear evidence from your Lord. (6-157) |
فَقَدْ جَاءَكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ |
clear evidence |
بَيِّنَةٌ (ج) بَيِّنَاتٌ |
their argument is invalid with their Lord, (42-16) |
حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ |
argument |
حُجَّةٌ |
there has come to you a conclusive proof from your Lord, (4-174) |
قَدْ جَاءَكُم بُرْهَانٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ |
proof |
بُرْهَانٌ |
and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, (79-40) |
وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ |
[unlawful] inclination |
هَوِيَ-يَهْوَى |
They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you]. (68-9) |
وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ |
wish |
وَدَّ-يَوُدُّ |
having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, (58-22) |
يُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ |
having affection |
وَادَّ-يُوَادِّ |
And Allah loves the doers of good. (3-148) |
وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
love |
أَحَبَّ-يُحِبُّ |
but they preferred blindness over guidance, (41-17) |
فَاسْتَحَبُّوا الْعَمَىٰ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ |
prefer |
اسْتَحَبَّ-يَسْتَحِبُّ |
which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, (24-55) |
الَّذِي ارْتَضَىٰ لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّن بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْنًا |
prefer |
ارْتَضَى-يَرْتَضِي |
And perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; (2-216) |
وَعَسَىٰ أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ |
hate |
كَرِهَ-يَكْرَهُ |
but most of them, to the truth, are averse. (23-70) |
وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ |
averse |
كَارِهٌ (ج) كَارِهُونَ |
He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. (26-168) |
قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ الْقَالِينَ |
detest |
قَالٍ (ج) قَالُونَ |
do you resent us? (5-59) |
هَلْ تَنقِمُونَ مِنَّا |
resent |
نَقَمَ-يَنْقِمُ |
those to whom you have been enemies (60-7) |
الَّذِينَ عَادَيْتُم مِّنْهُم |
enemy |
عَادَى-يُعَادِي |
And they requested victory from Allah, and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant. (14-15) |
وَاسْتَفْتَحُوا وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ |
Request victory |
اِسْتَفْتَحَ-يَسْتَفْتِحُ |
They recognize the favor of Allah; (16-83) |
يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ |
recognize |
عَرَفَ-يَعْرِفُ |
made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. (49-13) |
وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا |
know one another |
تَعَارَفَ-يَتَعَارَفُ |
for those there will be a humiliating punishment. (22-57) |
لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ |
humiliating |
مُهِينٌ |
And treasures and honorable station - (26-58) |
وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ |
honorable |
كَرِيمٌ |
Who hears the verses of Allah recited to him, (45-8) |
يَسْمَعُ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ |
hear |
سَمِعَ-يَسْمَعُ |
Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. (72-1) |
قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْآنًا عَجَبًا |
listen |
اِسْتَمَعَ-يَسْتَمِعُ |
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], (43-40) |
أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ |
make hear |
أَسْمَعَ-يُسْمِعُ |
Then let their listener produce a clear authority. (52-38) |
فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ |
listener |
مُسْتَمِعٌ |
but you cannot make hear those in the graves. (35-22) |
وَمَا أَنتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَّن فِي الْقُبُورِ |
make hear |
مُسْمِعٌ |
Hear but be not heard. (4-46) |
وَاسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ |
be heard |
مُسْمَعٌ |
