Like a rock and even worse in hardness (2:74)

كَالْحِجَارَةِ أَوْ أَشَدُّ قَسْوَةً

Hardness

قَسْوَةٌ

Let them find firmness in you (9:123)

وَلْيَجِدُوا فِيكُمْ غِلْظَةً

Firmness

غِلْظَةٌ

Others there are which when split asunder send forth water (2:74)

وَإِنَّ مِنْهَا لَمَا يَشَّقَّقُ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ الْمَاءُ

Split asunder

شَقَّقَ-يُشَقِّقُ

The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. (54:1)

اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ

Cleft asunder  

اِنْشَقَّ-يَنْشِقُّ

At it the skies are ready to burst (19:90)

تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ

Burst

تَفَطَّرَ-يَتَفَطَّرُ

On that Day shall men be divided (in two). (30:43)

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصَّدَّعُونَ

Divided

تَصَدَّعَ (يَصَّدَّعُ)

When the Sky is cleft asunder (82:1)

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انفَطَرَتْ

Cleft asunder

انْفَطَرَ-يَنْفَطِرُ

Almost bursting with fury (67:8)

تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ الْغَيْظِ

Brusting with fury

تَمَيَّزَ-يَتَمَيَّزُ

And We split the earth in fragments (80:26)

ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا الْأَرْضَ شَقًّا

Fragments

شَقَّ-يَشُقُّ (شَقٌّ)

When the heaven is cleft asunder (77:9)

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ

Cleft asunder

فَرجَ-يَفْرجُ

(فَرْجٌ (ج) فُرُوجٌ)

Thou wouldst have seen it humble itself and cleave asunder for fear of Allah (59:21)

لَّرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُّتَصَدِّعًا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ

Cleave asunder

مُتَصَدِّعٌ

And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation) (86:12)

وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ

Opens out

صَدْعٌ

Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? (73:18)

السَّمَاءُ مُنفَطِرٌ بِهِ

Cleft asunder

مُنْفَطِرٌ

But of the End of things they are heedless (30:7)

وَهُمْ عَنِ الْآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ

Heedless

غَافٍلٌ (غَافِلَةٌ) ج غَافِلُوْنَ (غَافِلَاتٌ)

Those who disbelieve wish that you would neglect your weapons and your baggage so they could come down upon you in one [single] attack (4:102)

وَدَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ أَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيْكُم مَّيْلَةً وَاحِدَةً

Neglect

غَفَلَ-يَغْفُلُ (غَفْلَةٌ)

Who are neglectful of their prayers (107:5)

الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ

Neglectful

سَاهٌ (ج) سَاهُونَ

No obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us (18:28)

وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا

Neglect

أَغْفَلَ-يُغْفِلُ

That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance (69:12)

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ

Remembrance

وَاعِيَةٌ (وَعَى-يَعِي)

To him you give attention. (80:6)

فَأَنتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ

Attention

تَصَدَّى-يَتَصَدَّى

Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more) (74:15)

ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ

Greedy

طَمِعَ-يَطْمَعُ

And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you (28:86)

وَمَا كُنتَ تَرْجُو أَن يُلْقَىٰ إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابُ

Expecting

رَجَا-يَرْجُو

then express your desire for Death, if you are truthful (62:6)

فَتَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

Desire

تَمَنَّى-يَتَمَنَّى

And the Day the Hour appears the criminals will be in despair. (30:12)

وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يُبْلِسُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ

Despair

أَبْلَسَ-يُبْلِسُ

Do not despair of the mercy of Allah (39:53)

لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ

Despair

قَنَطَ-يَقْنَطُ

So when they had despaired of him, they secluded themselves in private consultation (12:80)

فَلَمَّا اسْتَيْأَسُوا مِنْهُ خَلَصُوا نَجِيًّا

Despaired

اسْتَيْأَسَ-يَسْتَيْئِسُ

Some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord (16:54)

فَرِيقٌ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ

Some of you

فَرِيْقٌ

And we shall collect them all together (18:99)

وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَجَمَعْنَاهُمْ جَمْعًا

Collect

جَمْعٌ

They could devote themselves to studies in religion, and admonish the people when they return to them (9:122)

مِن كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ طَائِفَةٌ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّينِ وَلِيُنذِرُوا قَوْمَهُمْ

expedition

فِرْقَةٌ

These (Israelites) are but a small band (26:54)

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ

Band

شِرْذِمَةٌ

Those who brought forward the lie are a body among yourselves (24:11)

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا بِالْإِفْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِّنكُمْ

Body

عُصْبَةٌ

If two parties among the Believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them (49:9)

وَإِن طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلُوا فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا

Party

طَائِفَةٌ

Not the least good will your forces be to you (8:19)

وَلَن تُغْنِيَ عَنكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا

Force

فِئَةٌ

And if not for your family, we would have stoned you (11:91)

وَلَوْلَا رَهْطُكَ لَرَجَمْنَاكَ

Family

رَهْطٌ

Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened” (72:1)

قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ

Group

نَفَرٌ

Made you more numerous in manpower (17:6)

وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا

manpower

نَفِيرٌ

A [large] company of the former peoples (56:13)

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Large company

ثُلَّةٌ

And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass. (72:19)

وَأَنَّهُ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا

Compacted mass

لِبَدٌ

And he had already led astray from among you much of creation (36:62)

وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا

Much of creation

جِبِلٌ، جِبِلَّةٌ

And when there comes the promise of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering (17:104)

فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفًا

Gathering

لَفِيفٌ

Go forth in companies or go forth all together. (4:71)

فَانفِرُوا ثُبَاتٍ أَوِ انفِرُوا جَمِيعًا

Company

ثُبَّةٌ (ج) ثُبَاتٌ

And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups (39:71)

وَسِيقَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ زُمَرًا

In groups

زُمْرَةٌ (ج) زُمَرٌ

Honor belongs to Allah entirely (4:139)

فَإِنَّ الْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا

Honor

عِزَةٌ (ج) عِزِينٌ

Each faction, in what it has, rejoicing (23:53)

كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ

Faction

حِزْبٌ (ج) أَحْزَابٌ

This is a company bursting in with you (38:59)

هَٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ

Bursting company

فَوْجٌ (ج) أَفْوَاجٌ

Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful?

 (67:20)

أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ جُندٌ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ

Army

جُنْدٌ (ج) جُنُودٌ

And He sent against them birds in flocks (105:3)

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

Flocks

أَبَابِيلُ

They wish to change the words of Allah (48:15)

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُبَدِّلُوا كَلَامَ اللَّهِ

Words

كَلَامٌ

And when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation (33:53)

فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَانتَشِرُوا وَلَا مُسْتَأْنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ

Conversation

حَدِيثٌ (ج) أَحَادِيثُ

Only a saying: "Peace, peace."

 (56:26)

إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا

Saying

قَوْلٌ، قِيْلٌ

What Allah has revealed to you (2:76)

بِمَا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ

Reveal

فَتَحَ-يَفْتَحُ

The gates of Heaven will not be opened for them (7:40)

لَا تُفَتَّحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ

Open

فَتَّحَ-يُفَتِّحُ

So whoever Allah wants to guide – He expands his breast to [contain] Islam

 (6:125)

فَمَن يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ

Expand

شَرَحَ-يَشْرَحُ

Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them. (38:50)

جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ مُّفَتَّحَةً لَّهُمُ الْأَبْوَابُ

খোলা

مَفْتُوحَةٌ

He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? (6:80)

قَالَ أَتُحَاجُّونِّي فِي اللَّهِ وَقَدْ هَدَانِ

Argue

حَاجَّ-يُحَاجُّ

They will argue within the Fire (40:47)

يَتَحَاجُّونَ فِي النَّارِ

Argue

تَحَاجَّ-يَتَحَاجُّ

So, [O Muhammad], let the disbelievers not contend with you over the matter (22:67)

فَلَا يُنَازِعُنَّكَ فِي الْأَمْرِ

Contend

نَازَعَ-يُنَازِعُ

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (8:46)

وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا

Dispute

تَنَازَعَ-يَتَنَازَعُ

And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah.

 (42:10)

وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَيْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ

Disagree

اِخْتَلَفَ-يَخْتَلِفُ (اخْتِلَافٌ)

They said, "O Noah, you have disputed us and been frequent in dispute of us.”(11:32)

قَالُوا يَا نُوحُ قَدْ جَادَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَالَنَا

Dispute

جَادَلَ-يُجَادِلُ (جِدَالٌ)

These are two adversaries who have disputed over their Lord (22:19)

هَٰذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ

Dispute

اِخْتَصَمَ-يَخْتَصِمُ

But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves (4:65)

فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ

Dispute

شَجَرَ-يَشْجرُ

So do not argue about them except with an obvious argument (18:22)

فَلَا تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلَّا مِرَاءً ظَاهِرًا

Argument

مَارَى-يُمَارِي (مِرَاءٌ)

And among them are unlettered ones (2:78)

وَمِنْهُمْ أُمِّيُّونَ

Unlettered one

أُمِّيٌّ (ج) أُمِّيُّوْنَ

Except in wishful thinking, but they are only assuming. (2:78)

إِلَّا أَمَانِيَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

Wishful

أُمْنِيَّةٌ (ج) أَمَانِيٌّ

Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope (15:3)

يَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ

Hope

أَمَلٌ

They supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration (32:16)

يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا

Aspiration

طَمَعٌ

They said, "O Salih, you were among us a man of promise before this. (11:62)

قَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَٰذَا

Promise

مَرْجُوٌ

Woe to every sinful liar (45:7)

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

Woe

وَيْلٌ

And strive toward their destruction (2:114)

وَسَعَىٰ فِي خَرَابِهَا

Destruction

خَرَابٌ

But those who disbelieve - for them is misery, and He will waste their deeds. (47:8)

وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَتَعْسًا لَّهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

Misery

تَعْسٌ

And they did not increase them in other than ruin. (11:101)

وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ

Ruin

تَتْبِيبٌ

And to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction (17:7)

وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا مَا عَلَوْا تَتْبِيرًا

Destruction

تَتْبِيرٌ

And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction (71:28)

وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا

Destruction

تَبَارٌ

And do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction (2:195)

وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ

Destruction

تَهْلُكَةٌ

They will cry out thereupon for destruction.

 (25:13)

دَعَوْا هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًا

Destruction

ثُبُورٌ

And settled their people [in] the home of ruin? (14:28)

وَأَحَلُّوا قَوْمَهُمْ دَارَ الْبَوَارِ

Destruction

بُورٌ، بَوَارٌ، بَائِرٌ

We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' (27:49)

مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

Destruction

مَهَلِكٌ

Say, "Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us. (9:51)

قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَا إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَنَا

Wrote

كَتَبَ-يَكْتُبُ

And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, (25:5)

وَقَالُوا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ اكْتَتَبَهَا

Has written

اكْتَتَبَ-يَكْتَتِبُ

Nor did you inscribe one with your right hand. (29:48)

وَلَا تَخُطُّهُ بِيَمِينِكَ

Write

خَطَّ-يَخُطُّ

By the pen and what they inscribe,(68:1)

وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ

Inscribe

سَطَرَ-يَسْطُرُ

Amputate their hands

 (5:38)

فَاقْطَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمَا

Hand

يَدٌ (ج) أَيْدٍ

Except as one who stretches his hands toward water  to reach his mouth, (13:14)

كَبَاسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَى الْمَاءِ لِيَبْلُغَ فَاهُ

Hand

كَفٌّ

Strike with your foot (38:42)

ارْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ

Foot

رِجلٌ (ج) أَرْجُلٌ

and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet. (55:41)

فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِي وَالْأَقْدَامِ

feet

قَدَمٌ (ج) أَقْدَامٌ

But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins (27:44)

فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَا

Shins

سَاقٌ (ج) سُوقٌ

His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. (111:2)

مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ

 gained

كَسَبَ-يَكْسِبُ

It will have  what  it has gained, and it will bear  what it has earned (2:286)

لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ

Earned.

اِكْتَسَبَ-يَكْتَسِبُ

If anyone does good, We shall increase it for him; (42:23)

وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُ فِيهَا حُسْنًا

Earn

اِقْتَرَفَ-يَقْتَرِفُ

knowing what you have done by day, (6:60)

وَيَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُم بِالنَّهَارِ

committed

جَرَحَ-يَجْرَحُ

who commit evil deeds (45:21)

الَّذِينَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ

commit

اِجْتَرَحَ-يَجْتَرِحُ

He is fretful when misfortune touches him, (70:20)

إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا

touch

مَسَّ-يَمَسُّ

(مَسٌّ، مِسَاسٌ)

Even if We had sent down to you [Prophet] a book inscribed on parchment, and they had touched it with their own hands, (6:7)

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَابًا فِي قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ

touched

لَمَسَ-يَلْمِسُ

untouched beforehand by man or jinn. (55:56)

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ

touched

طَمَثَ-يَطْمِثُ

Remember Allah on the appointed days (২:২০৩)

وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَّعْدُودَاتٍ

numbered

مَعْدُوْدٌ، مَعْدُودَةٌ (ج) مَعْدُودَاتٌ
