do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet (49:2) |
وَلَا تَجْهَرُوا لَهُ بِالْقَوْلِ |
Raising voices, to reveal |
جَهَرَ-يَجْهَرُ (جَهْرٌ) |
Then declare what you are commanded (15:94) |
فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ |
declare, declare
|
صَدعَ |
Neither speak thy Prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between." (17:110) |
وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا |
low tone, secret low tones |
خَافَتَ-يُخَافِتُ |
So they departed, conversing in secret low tones (68:23) |
فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ |

تَخَافَتَ-يَتَخَافَتُ |
whether he lie hid by night or walk forth freely by day. (13:10) |
وَمَنْ هُوَ مُسْتَخْفٍ بِاللَّيْلِ وَسَارِبٌ بِالنَّهَارِ |

سَارِبٌ |
It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see (13:2) |
رَفَعَ السَّمَاوَاتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ |

عَمَدٌ |
Of the (city of) Iram, with Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars (89:7) |
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ |
lofty pillars |
عِمَادٌ |
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? (89:10) |
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ |
pillars |
وَتِدٌ ج أَوْتَادٌ |
And in the earth are tracts (diverse though) neighbouring (13:4) |
وَفِي الْأَرْضِ قِطَعٌ مُّتَجَاوِرَاتٌ |
Neighbouring , close |
مُتَجَاوِرَةٌ ج مُتَجَاوِرَاتٌ |
and gardens of vines and fields sown with corn, and palm trees - growing out of single roots or otherwise (13:4) |
وَنَخِيلٌ صِنْوَانٌ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ |
- growing out of single roots |
صِنْوَانٌ |
For each (such person) there are (angels) in succession, before and behind him (13:11) |
لَهُ مُعَقِّبَاتٌ مِّن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ |
Followers, Watchman |
مُعَقِّبَةٌ ج مُعَقِّبَاتٌ |
But the torrent bears away to foam that mounts up to the surface (13:17) |
فَاحْتَمَلَ السَّيْلُ زَبَدًا رَّابِيًا |

زَبَدٌ |
||
then as for the foam it passes away scum (13:17) |
فَأَمَّا الزَّبَدُ فَيَذْهَبُ جُفَاءً |
scum |
جُفَاءٌ |
but soon it becomes dry stubble, which the winds do scatter (18:45) |
فَأَصْبَحَ هَشِيمًا تَذْرُوهُ الرِّيَاحُ |
Rotten hay |
هَشِيمٌ |
And then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble (87:5) |
فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَىٰ |
Garbage, straw, garbage |
غُثَاءٌ |
For those who believe and work righteousness, is (every) blessedness, and a beautiful place of (final) return (13:27) |
الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ طُوبَىٰ لَهُمْ |
blessedness |
طُوْبَى |
whoever turns back (13:27) |
لَا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكْمِهِ |
turn back |
مُعَقِّبٌ |
and he is given, for drink, boiling fetid water. (14:16) |
وَيُسْقَىٰ مِن مَّاءٍ صَدِيدٍ |
fetid |
صَدِيدٌ |
then shall they taste it, a boiling fluid (38:57) |
فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ |
fluid |
غَسَّاقٌ |
Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds (69:36) |
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ |

غِسْلِينٌ |
The parable of those who reject their Lord is that their works are as ashes (14:18) |
أَعْمَالُهُمْ كَرَمَادٍ اشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ الرِّيحُ |

being strong |
اِشْتَدَّ-يَشْتِدُّ |
whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the heavens (14:24) |
أَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٌ وَفَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ |
branches |
فَرْعٌ |
Containing all kinds (of trees and delights) (55:48) |
ذَوَاتَا أَفْنَانٍ |
Dense branches |
أَفْنَانٌ |
Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns (77:30) |
اِنطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ |
Shadow of smoke |
شُعْبَةٌ ج شُعَبٌ |
It is torn up by the root from the surface of the earth: it has no stability (14:26) |
اِجْتُثَّتْ مِن فَوْقِ الْأَرْضِ |
torn up by the root |
اِجْتَثَّ-يَجْتِثُّ |
Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). (54:20) |
تَنزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ |

مُنْقَعِرٌ |
it has no stability (14:26) |
مَا لَهَا مِن قَرَارٍ |
stability |
قَرَارٌ |
And He hath made subject to you the sun and the moon (14:33) |
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ دَائِبَيْنِ |
Similarly |
دَائِبٌ-دَائِبُونَ |
He but giveth them respite against a Day when the eyes will fixedly stare in horror (14:42) |
إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ الْأَبْصَارُ |

شَخَصَ-يَشْخَصُ |
the eyes of the Unbelievers will fixedly stare in horror (21:97) |
شَاخِصَةٌ أَبْصَارُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا |
stare in horror |
شَاخِصَةٌ |
Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their heads raised up (14:43) |
مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِي رُءُوسِهِمْ |
Racing ahead |
مُهْطِعٌ ج مُهْطِعُونَ |
|
|
uplifted |
مُقْنٍعٌ ج مُقْنِعُونَ |
so that their heads are forced up (36:8) |
فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ |
forced up |
مُقْمَحٌ ج مُقْمَحُونَ |
Then is one who walks fallen on his face (67:22) |
:يَمْشِي مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِ |
fallen on his face |
مُكِبٌّ |
their glance does not come back to them (14:43) |
لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ |
glance |
طَرْفٌ |
and their hearts are void (14:43) |
وَأَفْئِدَتُهُمْ هَوَاءٌ |
void |
هَوَاءٌ |
Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? (16:79) |
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الطَّيْرِ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ فِي جَوِّ السَّمَاءِ |

جَوٌّ |
even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains. (14:46) |
وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ |
away with ,collapsed |
زَالَ-يَزُولُ |
Their garments of liquid pitch (14:50) |
سَرَابِيلُهُم مِّن قَطِرَانٍ |

قَطِرَانٌ |
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope (15:3) |
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ |
Engage in , diverted by |
أَلْهَى -يُلْهِي |
From him you are distracted. (80:10) |
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ |
distracted |
تَلَهَّى-يَتَلَهَّى |
their hearts distracted (21:3) |
لَاهِيَةً قُلُوبُهُمْ |
distracted |
لَاهِيَةٌ |
[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" (74:42) |
مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ |
put you into |
سَلَكَ-يَسْلُكُ |
They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled (15:15) |
لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا |
dazzled |
سَكَّرَ-يُسَكِّرُ |
So when vision is dazzled (75:7) |
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ |
dazzled |
بَرِقَ-يَبْرَقُ |
pursued by a clear burning flame. (15:18) |
فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ |

شِهَابٌ ج شُهُبٌ |
"I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. (15:28) |
إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ |

مَسْنُونٌ |
for every gate is of them a portion designated. (15:44) |
لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ |
designated |
مَقْسُومٌ |
We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury (15:47) |
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ |
lurking sense of injury |
غِلٌّ |
And inform them about the guests of Abraham (15:51) |
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ |
guests |
ضَيْفٌ |
On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation (19:85) |
يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ الْمُتَّقِينَ إِلَى الرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَفْدًا |
delegation |
وَفْدٌ |
but they refused to offer them hospitality (18:77) |
فَأَبَوْا أَن يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا |
Hospitality |
ضَيَّفَ-يُضَيَّفُ |
they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. (15:72) |
إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ |
intoxication |
سَكْرَةٌ |
No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated (56:19) |
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ |
intoxicated |
أَنْزَفَ-يُنْزِفُ |
Indeed in that are signs for those who discern (15:75) |
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ |
discern |
مُتَوَسِّمٌ ج مُتَوَسِّمُونَ |
And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] (15:87) |
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِي |
often repeated |
مَثَانٍ |
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted? (75:37) |
أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ |
sperm |
نُطْفَةٌ |
|
|
emitted |
مَنِيٌّ |
Have you seen that which you emit? (56:58) |
أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ |
emit to have babies |
أَمْنَى-يُمْنِي |
in them is warmth (16:5) |
وَالْأَنْعَامَ خَلَقَهَا ۗ لَكُمْ فِيهَا دِفْءٌ |
warmth |
دِفْءٌ |
burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves. (28:29) |
جَذْوَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ |
warm yourselves |
اِصْطَلَى-يَصْطَلِي |
And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty (16:6) |
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا جَمَالٌ |
beauty |
جَمَالٌ |
[its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them (20:131) |
زَهْرَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ |
splendor |
زَهْرَةٌ |
even if their beauty were to please you (33:52) |
وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ |
beauty |
حُسْنٌ |
when you bring them in [for the evening] (16:6) |
حِينَ تُرِيحُونَ |
bring them in |
أَرَاحَ-يُرِيحُ |
and when you send them out [to pasture] (16:6) |
وَحِينَ تَسْرَحُونَ |
send them out |
سَرَحَ-يَسْرَحُ |
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride (16:8) |
وَالْخَيْلَ وَالْبِغَالَ وَالْحَمِيرَ لِتَرْكَبُوهَا |
mules |
بَغْلٌ ج بِغَالٌ |
for you to eat from it tender meat (16:14) |
لِتَأْكُلُوا مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا |
tender |
طَرِيٌّ |
Even if we should be decayed bones? (79:11) |
أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً |
decayed |
نَخِرَةٌ |
Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated? (36:78) |
قَالَ مَن يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ |
disintegrated |
رَمِيمٌ |
And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you (16:15) |
وَأَلْقَىٰ فِي الْأَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ |

مَادَ-يَمِيدُ |
We caused the earth to swallow, and among them were those whom We drowned. (29:40) |
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ أَغْرَقْنَا |
earth to swallow |
خَسَفَ-يَخْسِفُ |
bury it in the ground (16:59) |
يَدُسُّهُ فِي التُّرَابِ |
bury |
دَسَّ-يَدُسُّ |
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him (80:21) |
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ |
Grave |
أَقْبَرَ-يُقْبِرُ |
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked for what sin she was killed? (81:8-9) |
وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ بِأَيِّ ذَنبٍ قُتِلَتْ |
girl [who was] buried alive |
مَوْءُودَةٌ |
without doubt for them is the Fire, and they will be the first to be hastened on into it (16:62) |
لَهُمُ النَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفْرَطُونَ |
hastened |
مُفْرَطٌ ج مُفْرَطُونَ |
From what is within their bodies between excretions and blood, We produce (16:66) |
نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهِ مِن بَيْنِ فَرْثٍ وَدَمٍ لَّبَنًا |

فَرْثٌ |
for your drink, milk, pure and agreeable to those who drink it. (16:66) |
لَّبَنًا خَالِصًا سَائِغًا لِّلشَّارِبِينَ |
milk |
لَبَنٌ |
|
|
agreeable to drink |
سَائِغٌ |
of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), (37:46) |
لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ |
delicious |
لَذَّةٌ |
food for those who eat. (23:20) |
صِبْغٍ لِّلْآكِلِينَ |
food |
صِبْغٌ |
One is fresh and sweet (35:12) |
هَـٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ سَائِغٌ شَرَابُهُ |
sweet |
عَذْبٌ |
and have given you to drink sweet water (77:27) |
وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُم مَّاءً فُرَاتًا |
sweet water |
فُرَاتٌ |
and one salty and bitter (25:53) |
وَهَـٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ |
salty and bitter |
أُجَاجٌ |
We replaced their two [fields of] gardens with gardens of bitter fruit (34:16) |
وَبَدَّلْنَاهُم بِجَنَّتَيْهِمْ جَنَّتَيْنِ ذَوَاتَيْ أُكُلٍ خَمْطٍ |
bitter fruit |
خَمْطٌ |
and one is salty and bitter (35:12) |
وَهَـٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ |
salty |
مِلْحٌ |
And your Lord inspired to the bee (16:68) |
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى النَّحْلِ |

نَحْلٌ |
a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort (16:75) |
عَبْدًا مَّمْلُوكًا لَّا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ |
the dominion |
مَمْلُوكٌ |
a wearisome burden is he to his master (16:76) |
وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَاهُ |
burden |
كَلٌّ |
Allah, the Eternal Refuge. (112:2) |
اللَّـهُ الصَّمَدُ |
Eternal Refuge |
صَمَدٌ |
Because he sees himself self-sufficient (96:7) |
أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ |
self-sufficient |
اسْتَغْنَى |
And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. (16:77) |
وَمَا أَمْرُ السَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِ الْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ |
glance of the eye |
لَمْحٌ |
and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing (16:80) |
وَمِنْ أَصْوَافِهَا وَأَوْبَارِهَا وَأَشْعَارِهَا أَثَاثًا |
wool |
صُوفٌ ج أَصْوَافٌ |
And the mountains will be like wool (70:9) |
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ |

عِهْنٌ |
|
|
fur |
وَبَرٌ ج أَوْبَارٌ |
|
|
hair |
أَشْعَارٌ |
|
|
furnishing |
أَثَاثٌ |
Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [ Allah ] (16:84) |
ثُمَّ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ |
to apologize or make excuses |
اِسْتَعْتَبَ-يَسْتَعْتِبُ |
and if they ask to appease [ Allah], they will not be of those who are allowed to appease (41:24) |
وَإِن يَسْتَعْتِبُوا فَمَا هُم مِّنَ الْمُعْتَبِينَ |
whose repentence, apeal, is accepted |
مُعْتَبٌ ج مُعْتَبُونَ |
and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made (16:91) |
وَلَا تَنقُضُوا الْأَيْمَانَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِهَا |

تَوْكِيدٌ |
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong (16:92) |
وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّتِي نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِن بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ |
