And seek help through patience and prayer, 2:45

وَاسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ

Patience, patience and prayer

صَبَرَ-يَصْبِرُ (صَبْرٌ)

And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. 20:132

وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا

steadfast , unswerving

اِصْطَبَرَ-يَصْطَبِرُ

[Moses] said, "You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, 18:69

قَالَ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ صَابِرًا

Patient, forbearing

صَابِرٌ (صَابِرَةٌ) ج صَابِرُونَ، صَبَّارٌ (صَابِرَاتٌ)

Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving and [frequently] returning [to Allah ]. 11:75

إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّاهٌ مُّنِيبٌ

forbearing , enduring, Patient, judicious, Intelligent, sober    

حَلِيمٌ

It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape." 14:21

سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَجَزِعْنَا أَمْ صَبَرْنَا مَا لَنَا مِن مَّحِيصٍ

Be unstable , Be anxious , intolerant,

جَزِعَ- يَجْزَعُ

When evil touches him, impatient, 70:20

إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا

unstable , anxious , intolerant,

جَزُوعٌ

it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah ] 2:45

وَإِنَّهَا لَكَبِيرَةٌ إِلَّا عَلَى الْخَاشِعِينَ

forbearing, enduring, Patient, judicious,

God-fearing,

خَاشِعٌ، خَاشِعَةٌ ج خَاشِعُونَ،خُشَّعٌ، خَاشِعَاتٌ

give good tidings to the humble [before their Lord] 22:34

وَبَشِّرِ الْمُخْبِتِينَ

forbearing , enduring, Patient, devout

مُخْبِتٌ

and wretched is the residence of the arrogant. 39:72

فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى الْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ

Arrogant, insolent, boastful  

مُتَكَبِّرٌ ج مُتَكَبِّرُونَ

he turns away arrogantly as if he had not heard them, 31:7

وَلَّىٰ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا

Arrogant, insolent, boastful  

مُسْتَكْبِرٌ

Rather, he is an insolent liar." 54:25

بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ

proud , Arrogant, insolent, boastful  

أَشِرٌ

Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful. 31:18

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ

proud , Arrogant, insolent, boastful  

مُخْتَالٌ

Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful. 4:36

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا

Arrogant, boastful

فَخُورٌ

and he was not a disobedient tyrant. 19:14

وَبَرًّا بِوَالِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّا

Arrogant, oppressive,

جَبَّارٌ ج جَبَّارُونَ

Who are certain that they will meet their Lord 2:46

الَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَاقُو رَبِّهِمْ

Suspect, certain

ظَنَّ-يَظُنُّ (ظَنٌّ)

Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children 23:55

أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِ مِن مَّالٍ وَبَنِينَ

Suspect, imagine, guess, compute, reckon

حَسِبَ- يَحْسَبُ

there will appear to them from Allah that which they had not taken into account. 39:47

وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا يَحْتَسِبُونَ

Suspect, imagine, guess, compute, reckon

احْتَسَبَ- يَحْتَسِبُ

They are not but falsifying. 43:20

إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ

imagine, guess, conjecture

خَرَصَ- يَخْرُصُ

those who assume about Allah an assumption of evil nature 48:6

الظَّانِّينَ بِاللَّهِ ظَنَّ السَّوْءِ

Conscious, notionalist

 

ظَانٌّ ج ظَانُّونَ

Destroyed are the falsifiers 51:10

قُتِلَ الْخَرَّاصُونَ

Imaginative , Conscious, notionalist

خَرَّاصٌ ج خَرَّاصُونَ

 

 

face-to-face

مُلاَقٍ ج مُلاَقُونَ

Are (these two) alike?- one to whom We have made a goodly promise, and who is going to reach its (fulfilment), 28:61

أَفَمَن وَعَدْنَاهُ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا فَهُوَ لَاقِيهِ

Encountering, Encounter, fulfillment,   

لَاقٍ

[so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other. 15:47

إِخْوَانًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ

facing each other

 

مُتَاقَبِلٌ ج مُتَاقَبِلُونَ

until they meet their Day which they are promised 70:42

حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ

Encountering, Encounter, pay a visit, meet

لَاقَى-يُلَاقِي (لِقَاءٌ)

 

 

Returning , regressive

رَاجِعٌ ج رَاجِعُونَ

Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 26:50

إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ

Return, come-back

مُنْقَلِبٌ

Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. 44:15

إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ

Returning

عَائِدٌ

He who imposed upon you the Qur'an will take you back to a place of return. 28:85

إِنَّ الَّذِي فَرَضَ عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لَرَادُّكَ إِلَىٰ مَعَادٍ

Returning place

مَعَادٌ

I have bestowed upon you and that I preferred you over the worlds 2:47

وَأَنِّي فَضَّلْتُكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

Preferred, Give priority

فَضَّلَ-يُفَضِّلُ (تَفْضِىلٌ)

who wishes to take precedence over you 23:24

يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ

To achieve excellence

تَفَضَّلَ-يَتَفَضَّلُ

But you prefer the worldly life, 87:16

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا

Prefer, priority

آثَرَ-يُؤَثِرُ

Then, has your Lord chosen you for [having] sons 17:40

أَفَأَصْفَاكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِالْبَنِينَ

Choose, designate

أَصْفَى-يُصْفِي

And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all 2:48

وَاتَّقُوا يَوْمًا لَّا تَجْزِي نَفْسٌ عَن نَّفْسٍ شَيْئًا

suffice , Reimbursement, award,

جَزَى- يَجْزِي (جَزَاءٌ)

[By] that We repaid them because they disbelieved 34:17

ذَٰلِكَ جَزَيْنَاهُم بِمَا كَفَرُوا

Reimbursement, Punish

جَازَى-يُجَازِى

 
 

Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?

 

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ

Reimbursement, Punish

ثَوَّبَ- يُثَوِّبُ

and rewarded them with an imminent conquest 48:18

وَأَثَابَهُمْ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا

Reimbursement, Punish

أَثَابَ- يُثِيبُ

Say, "Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from Allah ? 5:60

قُلْ هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّ مِّن ذَٰلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِندَ اللَّهِ

Reimbursement, acquirement, reward

ثَوَابٌ، مَثُوْبَةٌ

they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, 64:5

فَذَاقُوا وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ

Bad consequences, Evil consequence

وَبَالٌ

nor will intercession be accepted from it, 2:48

وَلَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهَا شَفَاعَةٌ

accept

قَبِلَ-يَقْبَلُ (قَبُولٌ)

Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did 46:16

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمْ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا

Accepted face-to-face,

تَقَبَّلَ-يَتَقَبَّلُ

The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, 40:3

غَافِرِ الذَّنبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ

Acceptor, The recipient

قَابِلٌ

 

 

Recommendation

شَفَاعَةٌ

(شَفَعَ-يَشْفَعُ)

So now we have no intercessors 26:100

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَافِعِينَ

Intercessor

شَافِعٌ، شَفِيعٌ ج شُفَعَاءُ

nor will compensation be taken from it, 2:48

وَلَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْهَا عَدْلٌ

Have taken, catch, apprehend , to accept, Be seized,

أَخَذَ-يَأْخُذُ (أَخْذٌ، أَخْذَةٌ)

Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. 2:286

رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا

Have taken, catch, apprehend ,

to accept,

Be seized,

آخَذَ- يُؤَخِذُ

And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them 28:19

فَلَمَّا أَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَبْطِشَ بِالَّذِي هُوَ عَدُوٌّ لَّهُمَا

Have taken, catch, apprehend , Be seized, raid

بَطَشَ- يَبْطِشُ (بَطْشٌ، بَطْشَةٌ)

There is no creature but that He holds its forelock. 11:56

مَّا مِن دَابَّةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا

Acceptor , holder, Seizure  

آخِذٌ ج آخِذُونَ

 

 

Compensation, Justice, Equality

عَدْلٌ (عَدَلَ-يَعْدِلُ)

So today no ransom will be taken from you 57:15

فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ

ransom ,

فِدْيَةٌ (فَدَى-يَفْدِي)

a compensation payment presented to the deceased's family [is required] 4:92

وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ

Murder charges , blood-money

دِيَةٌ

And [recall] when We saved your forefathers from the people of Pharaoh, 2:49

وَإِذْ نَجَّيْنَاكُم مِّنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ

Save , release, To save 

نَجَّى-يُنجِّي (نَجَاةٌ)

and saved you and drowned the people of Pharaoh 2:50

فَأَنجَيْنَاكُمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ

Save, To save 

أَنْجَى-يُنجِي

Then, can you save one who is in the Fire? 39:19

أَفَأَنتَ تُنقِذُ مَن فِي النَّارِ

rescue, redeem

أَنْقَذَ-يُنْقِذُ

ou have escaped from the wrongdoing people." 28:25

نَجَوْتَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ

 

نَجَا-يَنْجُو

Indeed, we will save you and your family, except your wife; 29:33

لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُ وَأَهْلَهُ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ

save

مُنَجٍّ ج مُنَجُّونَ

And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, "Mention me before your master." 12:42

وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي ظَنَّ أَنَّهُ نَاجٍ مِّنْهُمَا اذْكُرْنِي عِندَ رَبِّكَ

Released

نَاجٍ

who afflicted you with the worst torment, 2:49

يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ

Afflicted, Torture  

سَامَ- يَسُومَ

If you should be suffering - so are they suffering as you are suffering, 4:104

إِن تَكُونُوا تَأْلَمُونَ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ كَمَا تَأْلَمُونَ

suffer

أَلِمَ- يَأْلَمُ

Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, 33:53

إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِي النَّبِيَّ

troubling, Hardship, Punish

آذَى- يُؤَذِي

if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty. 2:220

وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَعْنَتَكُمْ

difficulty

أَعْنَتَ- يُعْنِتُ

 

 

damned, Inferior, Evil

سُوْءٌ

For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description of evil; 16:60

لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ

damned, hell

سَوْءٌ، سُوأَى، سَيِّءٌ

Then shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that? 22:72

قُلْ أَفَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّ مِّن ذَٰلِكُمُ

Wrong, harm, evil

شَرٌّ

In Your hand is [all] good. 3:26

بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ

good, better

خَيْرٌ ج أَخْيَارٌ

they will have a good reward 18:2

أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا

good, gracious, beautiful, virtue

حَسَنٌ

so forgive with gracious forgiveness. 15:85

فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ

gracious , better, Welfare, Decorative

جَمِيلٌ

slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. 2:49

يُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ

slaughter

ذَبَّحَ- يُذَبِّحُ

or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization. 27:21

أَوْ لَأَذْبَحَنَّهُ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّي بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ

slaughter, Sacrificed

ذَبَحَ-يَذْبَحُ

He has succeeded who purifies it, 91:9-10

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّاهَا

Purify, reformed

ذَكَّى-يُذَكِّي

So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]. 108:2

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ

sacrifice

نَحَرَ-يَنْحَرُ

 

 

Women, Wife

نِسَاءٌ

And women in the city said, 12:30

وَقَالَ نِسْوَةٌ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ

Women, Wife

نِسْوَةٌ

And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer 4:124

وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ مِن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ

Women, Wife, daughter, womenkind, Mother, lady, dame  

أُنْثَى ج إِنَاثٌ

Indeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, 27:23

إِنِّي وَجَدتُّ امْرَأَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ

Women

اِمرَأَةٌ

And bring to witness two witnesses from among your men. 2:282

وَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَهِيدَيْنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمْ

man, person, male

رَجُلٌ ج رِجَالٌ

Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer 16:97

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ

male

ذَكَرٌ ج ذكُورٌ،ذُكْرَانٌ

Does every person among them aspire 70:38

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ

person

اِمْرَأٌ

And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart 8:24

وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ

Adult people, person, husband

مَرْءٌ

And in that was a great trial from your Lord. 2:49

وَفِي ذَٰلِكُم بَلَاءٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ

Trial, Test, Danger

بَلاَءٌ (بَلاَ-يَبْلُو)

when the believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them. 60:10

إِذَا جَاءَكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مُهَاجِرَاتٍ فَامْتَحِنُوهُنَّ

examine , Trial, Test ,punish

فِتْنَةٌ ج فُتُونٌ

(فَتَنَ-يَفْتِنُ)

when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands 2:124

وَإِذِ ابْتَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ

Trial, Test, Verify

اِبْتَلَى-يَبْتَلِي

when the believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them. 60:10

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا جَاءَكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مُهَاجِرَاتٍ فَامْتَحِنُوهُنَّ

examine , Test

اِمْتَحَنَ-يَمْتَحِنُ

that He might test the believers with a good test. 8:17

 

وَلِيُبْلِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَاءً حَسَنًا

examine , Test , Increase dignity through examination

أَبْلَى-يُبْلِي
