And their hearts absorbed [the worship of] the calf because of their disbelief. (2-93) |
وَأُشْرِبُوا فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْعِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ |
absorb |
أَشْرَبَ-يُشْرِبُ |
How wretched is that which your faith enjoins upon you, (2-93) |
بِئْسَمَا يَأْمُرُكُم بِهِ إِيمَانُكُمْ |
How wretched |
بِئْسَ |
Unquestionably, evil is what they decide. (16-59) |
أَلَا سَاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ |
evil |
سَاءَ-يَسُوءُ |
an excellent servant. (38-44) |
نِّعْمَ الْعَبْدُ |
an excellent |
نِعْمَ |
And excellent are those as companions. (4-69) |
وَحَسُنَ أُولَٰئِكَ رَفِيقًا |
excellent |
حَسُنَ-يَحْسُنُ |
What is in the bellies of these animals is exclusively for our males. (6-139) |
هَٰذِهِ الْأَنْعَامِ خَالِصَةٌ لِّذُكُورِنَا |
exclusively |
خَالِصَةٌ |
those who have wronged among you exclusively, (8-25) |
الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنكُمْ خَاصَّةً |
exclusively |
خَاصَّةٌ |
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." (89-24) |
يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي |
send ahead |
قَدَّمَ-يُقَدِّمُ |
There, [on that Day], every soul will be put to trial for what it did previously, (10-30) |
هُنَالِكَ تَبْلُو كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا أَسْلَفَتْ |
did previously |
أَسْلَفَ-يُسْلِفُ |
And He found you lost and guided [you], (93-7) |
وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ |
find |
وَجَدَ |
Accursed wherever they are found, [being] seized and massacred completely. (33-61) |
أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوا أُخِذُوا وَقُتِّلُوا تَقْتِيلًا |
found |
ثَقِفَ-يَثْقَفُ |
But if it is found that those two were guilty of perjury, (5-107) |
فَإِنْ عُثِرَ عَلَىٰ أَنَّهُمَا اسْتَحَقَّا إِثْمًا |
is found |
عَثرَ-يَعْثرُ |
"Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." (2-170) |
بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا |
which we found |
أَلْفَى-يُلْفِي |
And similarly, We caused them to be found that they [who found them] would know that the promise of Allah is truth. (18-21) |
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَعْثَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ |
cause to be found |
أَعْثَرَ-يُعْثِرُ |
you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? (6-81) |
أَنَّكُمْ أَشْرَكْتُم بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَانًا |
associates with Allah |
أَشْرَكَ-يُشْرِكُ |
Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice. (31-13) |
إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ |
association [with him] |
شِرْكٌ |
Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. (42-13) |
كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ |
who associate others with Allah |
مُشْرِكٌ (مُشْرِكَةٌ) (ج) مُشْرِكُونَ (مُشْرِكَاتٌ) |
One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, (2-96) |
يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ |
could be granted |
عَمَّرَ-يُعَمِّرُ |
One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, (2-96) |
يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ |
years |
سَنَةٌ |
and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years, (29-14) |
فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ إِلَّا خَمْسِينَ عَامًا |
year |
عَامٌ |
on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; (28-27) |
تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ |
year |
حِجَّةٌ (ج) حِجَجٌ |
but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment (2-96) |
وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِهِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ |
one who remove |
مُزَحْزِحٌ |
And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. (6-17) |
وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا هُوَ |
remover |
كَاشِفٌ (كَاشِفَةٌ) (ج) كَاشِفُونَ (كَاشِفَاتٌ) |
its vegetation emerges by permission of its Lord; (7-58) |
يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِ |
permission |
إِذْنٌ |
Indeed, those who ask your permission, [O Muhammad] - those are the ones who believe in Allah and His Messenger. (24-62) |
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَأْذِنُونَكَ أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ |
permission |
اسْتَأَذَنَ-يَسْتَأْذِنُ |
do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome and greet their inhabitants. (24-27) |
لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتًا غَيْرَ بُيُوتِكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تَسْتَأْنِسُوا |
welcome and greet |
اسْتَأْنَسَ-يَسْتَأْنِسُ |
a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allah (2-101) |
نَبَذَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ |
throw |
نَبَذَ-يَنْبِذُ |
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. (26-32) |
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ |
throw |
أَلْقَى-يُلْقِي |
And I bestowed upon you love from Me. (20-39) |
وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً مِّنِّي |
throw |
قَذَفَ-يَقْذِفُ |
And you threw not, [O Muhammad], when you threw, but it was Allah who threw. (8-17) |
وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ رَمَىٰ |
throw |
رَمَى-يَرْمِي |
And the overturned towns He hurled down. (53-53) |
وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ |
hurle down |
أَهْوَى-يُهْوِي |
And whoever comes with an evil deed - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, (27-90) |
وَمَن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ |
overturn |
كَبَّ-يَكبُّ |
So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators. (26-94) |
فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ |
overturn |
كَبْكَبَ-يُكَبْكِبُ |
or we will be the ones to throw [first ]. (7-115) |
وَإِمَّا أَن نَّكُونَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِينَ |
thrower |
مُلْقٍ (ج) مُلْقِيَاتٌ |
But as for he who is given his record behind his back, (84-10) |
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ |
back |
ظَهْرٌ (ج) ظُهُورٌ |
But if his shirt is torn from the back, then she has lied, and he is of the truthful." (12-27) |
وَإِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ فَكَذَبَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ |
back |
دُبُرٌ (ج) أَدْبَارٌ |
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. (86-7) |
يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ |
backbone |
صُلْبٌ (ج) أَصْلَابٌ |
And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, (24-42) |
وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ |
Kingdom |
مُلْكٌ (مَلَكَ-يَمْلِكُ) |
Or have they a share of dominion? (4-53) |
أَمْ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِّنَ الْمُلْكِ |
Kingdom |
مَلْكٌ |
But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, (14-22) |
وَمَا كَانَ لِيَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ |
authority |
سُلْطَانٌ |
There the authority is [completely] for Allah, the Truth. (18-44) |
هُنَالِكَ الْوَلَايَةُ لِلَّهِ الْحَقِّ |
authority |
وَلاَيَةٌ |
And say, "This is not but obvious magic. (37-15) |
وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ |
magic |
سِحْرٌ (سَحَرَ-يَسْحُرُ) |
and said," A magician or a madman." (51-39) |
وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ |
magician |
سَاحِرٌ (ج) سَحَرَةٌ |
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician." (26-37) |
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ |
experienced magician |
سَحَّرَةٌ |
"You follow not but a man affected by magic." (17-47) |
تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا |
bewitched |
مَسْحُورٌ |
They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched.' (26:185) |
قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ |
bewitched |
مُسَحَّرٌ (ج) مُسَحَّرُونَ |
but he will not harm them at all except by permission of Allah. (58-10) |
وَلَيْسَ بِضَارِّهِمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ |
one who is harmful |
ضَارٌّ (ج) ضَارُّونَ |
Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction." (72-21) |
إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا رَشَدًا |
do harm |
ضَرَّ-يَضُرُّ |
Let no scribe be harmed or any witness . (2-282) |
وَلَا يُضَارَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَهِيدٌ |
harmful |
ضَارَّ-يُضَارُّ (ضِرَارٌ) |
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children. (26-88) |
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ |
beneficial |
نَفَعَ-يَنْفَعُ |
and "Hear but be not heard" and "Ra'ina," twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. (4-46) |
وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَاسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَاعِنَا لَيًّا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِي الدِّينِ |
Ra’ina |
رَاعٍ (ج) رِعَاءٌ
|
Eat and pasture your cattle. (20:54) |
كُلُوا وَارْعَوْا أَنْعَامَكُمْ |
pasture |
رَعَى-يَرْعَى (رِعَاعَةٌ) |
you drink from it, and from it are trees you use as pasture. (16:10) |
لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ |
pasture |
أَسَامَ-يُسِيمُ |
The One Who produced pasture. (87:4) |
وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَىٰ |
pasture |
مَرْعَى |
He specially chooses for His mercy whom He pleases. (3:74) |
يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِ مَن يَشَاءُ |
specially |
اِخْتَصَّ-يَخْتِصُّ |
He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. (22:78) |
هُوَ اجْتَبَاكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ |
chosen |
اِجْتَبَى-يَجْتَبِي |
Indeed, We purified them with a most pure quality. (38:46) |
إِنَّا أَخْلَصْنَاهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِ |
pure quality |
أَخْلَصَ-يُخْلِصُ |
And the king said, "Bring him to me; I will appoint him exclusively for myself." (12:54) |
وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِهِ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِي |
exclusively for myself |
اِسْتَخْلَصَ-يَسْتَخْلِصُ |
And I produced you for Myself. (20:41) |
وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِي |
produced |
اِصْطَنَعَ-يَصْطَنِعُ |
And Moses chose seventy of his people for Our place of meeting. (7:155) |
وَاخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا لِّمِيقَاتِنَا |
chose |
اِخْتَارَ-يَخْتِيرُ |
And fruit of what they select. (56:20) |
وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ |
select |
تَخَيَّرَ-يَتَخَيَّرُ |
And indeed they are, to Us, among the chosen. (38:47) |
وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْأَخْيَارِ |
chosen |
مُصْطَفَى (ج) مُصْطَفُونَ |
But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in. (22:52) |
فَيَنسَخُ اللَّهُ مَا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ |
harm |
نَسَخَ-يَنْسَخُ |
He who exchanges belief for disbelief has surely strayed from the Right Path. (2:108) |
وَمَن يَتَبَدَّلِ الْكُفْرَ بِالْإِيمَانِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَاءَ السَّبِيلِ |
exchange |
تَبَدَّلَ-يَتَبَدَّلُ |
Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange. (18:50) |
بِئْسَ لِلظَّالِمِينَ بَدَلًا |
exchange |
بَدَلٌ |
from the evil of the envier when he envies. (113:5) |
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ |
envier |
حَسَدٌ (حَسَدَ-يحْسُدُ) |
from the evil of the envier when he envies. (113:5) |
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ |
envier |
حَاسِدٌ |
until it is clear to them that it is the truth. (41:53) |
حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ |
clear |
تَبَيَّنَ-يَتَبَيَّنُ |
And this is how We explain Our verses clearly and so that the way of the criminals become well exposed. (6:55) |
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ سَبِيلُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ |
clear |
اِسْتَبَانَ-يَسْتَبِينُ |
So turn away from them and say, Peace. (43:89) |
فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلَامٌ |
turn away |
صَفَحَ-يَصْفَحُ (صَفَحٌ) |
pay no attention to their hurt. Put your trust in Allah. (33:48) |
وَدَعْ أَذَاهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ |
ignore |
وَدَعَ-يَدَعُ |
I was commanded to be the first to submit to Him. (6:14) |
إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ |
submit |
أَسْلَمَ-يُسْلِمُ |
and do not embrace the religion of the truth. (9:29) |
وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ الْحَقِّ |
embrace the religion |
دَانَ-يَدِينُ |
And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him. (2:133) |
وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ |
submissive |
مُسْلِمٌ |
Indeed, they are [meek and] submissive today!’ (37:26) |
بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ |
chose |
مُسْتَسْلِمٌ (ج) مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ |
And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. (55:27) |
وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ |
Face |
وَجْهٌ (ج) وُجُوْهٌ |
that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. (72:18) |
وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًا |
masjids |
مَسْجِدٌ (ج) مَسَاجِدُ |
there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques. (22:40) |
لَّهُدِّمَتْ صَوَامِعُ وَبِيَعٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَمَسَاجِدُ |
monasteries |
صَوْمَعَةٌ (ج) صَوَامِعُ |
there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques. (22:40) |
لَّهُدِّمَتْ صَوَامِعُ وَبِيَعٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَمَسَاجِدُ |
churches |
بَيْعَةٌ (ج) بِيَعٌ |
there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques. (22:40) |
لَّهُدِّمَتْ صَوَامِعُ وَبِيَعٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَمَسَاجِدُ |
synagogues |
صَلَاوَاتٌ |
And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives (53:39) |
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ |
strives |
سَعى-يَسْعَى (سَعْيٌ) |
And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself (29:6) |
وَمَن جَاهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَاهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِ |
strives
|
جَاهَدَ-يُجَاهِدُ (جِهَادٌ) |
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. (28:21) |
فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَائِفًا |
fearful |
خَائِفٌ (ج) خَائِفُونَ |
You will see the wrongdoers fearful (42-22) |
تَرَى الظَّالِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ |
fearful, |
مُشْفِقٌ (ج) مُشْفِقُونَ |
Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (79:8) |
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ |
tremble |
وَاجِفَةٌ |
