you are to be pursued (44:23) |
إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ |
those who are pursued |
مُتَّبَعٌ ج مُتَّبَعُونَ |
|
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit (26:148) |
وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ |

هَضِيمٌ |
|
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill (26:149) |
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ |

فَارِهٌ ج فَارِهُونَ |
|
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. (26:181)
|
أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ |

مُخْسِرٌ ج مُخْسِرُونَ |
|
Woe to those who give less [than due] (83:1) |
وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ |
who give less [than due] |
مُطَفِّفٌ ج مُطَفِّفُونَ |
|
it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass (27:44) |
إِنَّهُ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ |

مُمَرَّدٌ |
|
he turned in flight and did not return. (27:10) |
وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ |

مُدْبِرٌ ج مُدْبِرُونَ |
|
And if they fight you, they will show you their backs (3:111) |
وَإِن يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ يُوَلُّوكُمُ الْأَدْبَارَ |
show backs |
أَدْبَرَ-يُدْبِرُ (إدْبَارٌ) |
|
we have been taught the language of birds (27:16) |
عُلِّمْنَا مَنطِقَ الطَّيْرِ |

مَنْطِقٌ |
|
an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings (27:18) |
قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ |
an ant |
نَمْلَةٌ ج نَمْلٌ |
|
And he took attendance of the birds (27:20) |
وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ |
took attendance |
تَفَقَّدَ-يَتَفَقَّدُ |
|
it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass (27:44) |
إِنَّهُ صَرْحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ |

قَوَارِيرُ |
|
grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty (27:60) |
فَأَنبَتْنَا بِهِ حَدَائِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٍ |
garden |
حَدِيقَةٌ ج حَدَائِقُ |
|
they will be in a garden [of Paradise] (30:15) |
فَهُمْ فِي رَوْضَةٍ يُحْبَرُونَ |
a garden |
رَوْضَةٌ ج رَوْضَاتٌ |
|
Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him (28:15) |
فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَىٰ فَقَضَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ۖ |

وَكَزَ-يَكِزُ |
|
he found aside from them two women driving back [their flocks] (28:23) |
وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ امْرَأَتَيْنِ تَذُودَانِ |
driving back |
ذَالَ-يَذُولُ |
|
We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks] (28:23) |
لَا نَسْقِي حَتَّىٰ يُصْدِرَ الرِّعَاءُ |
dispatch |
أَصْدَرَ-يُصْدِرُ |
|
Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy. (28:26) |
إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الْأَمِينُ |
hire |
اِسْتَأْجَرَ-يَسْتَأْجِرُ |
|
on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years (28:27) |
تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ |
serve |
أَجَرَ-يَأْجُرُ |
|
Perhaps I will bring you from there [some] information or burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves. (28:29) |
آتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جَذْوَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ |
bring |
جَبَى-يَجْبِي (جَذْوَةٌ) |
|
felt for them great discomfort (29:33) |
وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا |
discomfort |
ذَرْعٌ |
|
the weakest of homes is the home of the spider (29:41) |
أَوْهَنَ الْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ الْعَنكَبُوتِ |
spider |
عَنْكَبُوتٌ |
|
So exalted is Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning. (30:17) |
فَسُبْحَانَ اللَّـهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ |
reach the evening |
أَمْسَى-يُمْسِي |
|
And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment (54:38) |
صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ |
came upon by morning |
صَبَّحَ-يُصَبِّحُ |
|
[Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people (৩০:৩০) |
فِطْرَتَ اللَّـهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا |

فِطْرَةٌ |
|
Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained (32:8) |
ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُ مِن سُلَالَةٍ مِّن مَّاءٍ مَّهِينٍ |

مَهِينٌ |
|
Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. (33:4) |
مَّا جَعَلَ اللَّـهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِّن قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ |

|
their eyes revolving like one being overcome by death (33:19) |
تَدُورُ أَعْيُنُهُمْ كَالَّذِي يُغْشَىٰ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ |

دَارَ-يَدُورُ |
|
they lash you with sharp tongues (33:19) |
سَلَقُوكُم بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ |

سَلَقَ-يَسْلُقُ |
|
and hearts reached the throats (33:10) |
وَبَلَغَتِ الْقُلُوبُ الْحَنَاجِرَ |
throats |
حَنْجَرَةٌ ج حَنَاجِرُ |
|
when the soul at death reaches the throat (56:83) |
إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ |
throat |
حُلْقُومٌ |
|
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern (33:21) |
لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّـهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ |

|
not for them was the choice. (28:68) |
مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ |

|
without awaiting its readiness (33:53) |
غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاهُ |

|
without seeking to remain for conversation (33:53) |
وَلَا مُسْتَأْنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ |
seeking to remain |
مُسْتَأْنِسٌ ج مُسْتَأْنِسُونَ |
|
Has the time not come for those who have believed (57:16) |
أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَن تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ |
the time-come |
أَنِيَ-يَأْنِي/ أَنَى-يَأْنِي |
|
to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments (33:59) |
يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَابِيبِهِنَّ |
bring down over |
أَدْنَى-يُدْنِي |
|
|
|
outer garments |
جِلْبَابٌ ج جَلَابِيبُ |
|
If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease and those who spread rumors (33:60) |
لَّئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَالْمُرْجِفُونَ |
who spread rumors |
مُرْجِفٌ ج مُرْجِفُونَ |
|
their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah (39:23) |
تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ اللَّـهِ |

أَلَانَ-يُلِينُ |
|
Make full coats of mail and calculate [precisely] the links (34:11) |
اِنعْمَلْ سَابِغَاتٍ وَقَدِّرْ فِي السَّرْدِ |

|
What are these statues to which you are devoted? (21:52) |
مَا هَـٰذِهِ التَّمَاثِيلُ الَّتِي أَنتُمْ لَهَا عَاكِفُونَ |

|
They worked for him as he desired, (making) arches, images, basons as large as reservoirs (34:13) |
يَعْمَلُونَ لَهُ مَا يَشَاءُ مِن مَّحَارِيبَ وَتَمَاثِيلَ وَجِفَانٍ كَالْجَوَابِ |

جَفْنَةٌ ج جَفْنَةٌ ج جِفَانٌ |
|
them will be passed round vessels of silver (76:15) |
وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِآنِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ |
vessels |
إنَاءٌ ج آنِيَةٌ |
|
They worked for him as he desired, (making) arches, images, basons as large as reservoirs, and (cooking) cauldrons fixed (34:13) |
يَعْمَلُونَ لَهُ مَا يَشَاءُ مِن مَّحَارِيبَ وَتَمَاثِيلَ وَجِفَانٍ كَالْجَوَابِ وَقُدُورٍ رَّاسِيَاتٍ |

قِدْرٌ ج قُدُورٌ |
|
|
|
|
جَابِيَةٌ ج جَوَابٍ |
|
We converted their two garden (rows) into "gardens" producing bitter fruit, and tamarisks, and some few (stunted) Lote-trees (34:16) |
جَنَّتَيْنِ ذَوَاتَيْ أُكُلٍ خَمْطٍ وَأَثْلٍ وَشَيْءٍ مِّن سِدْرٍ قَلِيلٍ |
Lote-trees |
سِدْرَةٌ ج سِدْرٌ |
|
when terror is removed from their hearts (34:23) |
إِذَا فُزِّعَ عَن قُلُوبِهِمْ |
terror removed |
فَزَّعَ-يُفَزِّعُ |
|
Couldst thou but see when the wrong-doers will be made to stand before their Lord (34:31) |
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذِ الظَّالِمُونَ مَوْقُوفُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ |
stand before |
مَوْقُوفٌ ج مَوْقُوفُونَ |
|
But how for them will be the taking [of faith] (34:52) |
وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ |
receiving |
تَنَاوُشٌ |
|
thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves (35:12) |
وَتَرَى الْفُلْكَ فِيهِ مَوَاخِرَ |
Plough |
مَاخِرَةٌ ج مَوَاخِرُ |
|
the mountains are tracts white and red (35:27) |
وَمِنَ الْجِبَالِ جُدَدٌ بِيضٌ وَحُمْرٌ |
tracts |
جُدَّةٌ ج جُدَدٌ |
|
O you who have believed, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels (3:149) |
إِن تُطِيعُوا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَابِكُمْ |
heels |
عَقَبَةٌ |
|
the mountains are tracts white and red (35:27) |
وَمِنَ الْجِبَالِ جُدَدٌ بِيضٌ وَحُمْرٌ |
red |
أَحْمَرُ ج حُمْرٌ |
|
We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness (36:37) |
سْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ |
plunged in darkness |
مُظْلِمٌ ج مُظْلِمُونَ |
|
from the sepulchres (men) will rush forth to their Lord (36:51) |
فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ |
rush forth |
نَسَلَ-يَنْسِلُ |
|
And his people came rushing towards him (11:78) |
وَجَاءَهُ قَوْمُهُ يُهْرَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ |
rushing |
هَرعَ-يَهْرعُ |
|
Then the people came toward him, hastening. (37:94) |
فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ |
hastening |
زَفَّ-يَزِفُّ |
|
they were rushing to a goal-post (70:43) |
كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ |
rushing to |
أَوْفَضَ-يُوْفِضُ |
|
They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place (36:52) |
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَن بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا |
sleeping place |
مَرْقَدٌ |
|
ndeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation (36:55) |
إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَ |
joyful occupation |
شُغُلٌ (شَغَلَ) |
|
So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship] (94:7) |
فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ |
stand up [for worship] |
نَصَبَ-يَنْصَبُ |
|
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else] (28:10) |
وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَارِغًا |
empty |
فَارِغٌ (فَرَغَ-يَفْرُغُ) |
|
And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him (36:59) |
وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُ |

شِعْرٌ |
|
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them (26:224) |
وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ |

شَاعِرٌ ج شُعَرَاءُ |
|
Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. (37:11) |
خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍ |

لَازِبٌ |
|
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. (37:47) |
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ |
intoxicated |
غَوْلٌ |
|
Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes (44:54) |
وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ |
large, [beautiful] eyes |
عَيْنَاءُ ج عِينٌ |
|
Thus. And We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes (44:54) |
وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ |
fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes |
حَوْرَاءُ ج حُورٌ |
|
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. (37:49) |
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ |
eggs |
بَيْضٌ |
|
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed? (37:53) |
أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ |
recompensed |
مَدِينٌ ج مَدِينُونَ |
|
he put him down upon his forehead (37:103) |
وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ |
down upon his forehead |
تَلَّ-يَتِلُّ |
|
when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber (38:21) |
إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا الْمِحْرَابَ |
climbed over |
سَوَّرَ-يُسَوِّرُ |
|
So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed (38:36) |
فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّيحَ تَجْرِي بِأَمْرِهِ رُخَاءً |
gently |
رُخَاءٌ |
|
And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver (38:37) |
وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ |
builder |
بَنَّاءٌ |
|
|
|
traitor |
مُتَكَلِّفٌ ج مُتَكَلِّفُونَ |
|
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. (37:67) |
إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ |
mixture |
شَوْبٌ |
|
Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture (76:2) |
إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ |
sperm-drop mixture |
أَمْشَاجٌ |
|
Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur (76:5) |
يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا |
mixture |
مِزَاجٌ |
|
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances and of equal age (38:52) |
وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ |
equal age |
تِرْبٌ ج أَتْرَابٌ |
|
I entrust my affair to Allah (40:44) |
وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِي إِلَى اللَّـهِ |
entrust |
فَوَّضَ-يُفَوِّضُ |
|
so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire (40:47) |
فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ النَّارِ |
relieve of |
مُغْنٍ ج مُغْنُونَ |
|
hen watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke (44:10) |
يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ |
smoke |
دُخَانٌ |
|
There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke (55:35) |
يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ |
flame |
نُحَاسٌ |
|
And a shade of black smoke, (56:43) |
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ |
black smoke, |
يَحْمُومٌ |
|
And We appointed for them companions who made attractive to them (41:25) |
وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَاءَ |
appointed |
قَيَّضَ-يُقَىِّضُ |
|
Do not listen to this Qur'an and speak noisily during [the recitation of] it (41:26) |
لَا تَسْمَعُوا لِهَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ وَالْغَوْا فِيهِ |
speak noisily |
لَغَا-يَلْغُو |
|
We will show them Our signs in the horizons (41:53) |
سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ |
horizons |
أُفُقٌ ج آفَاقٌ |
|
they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. (40:5) |
وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ |
invalidate |
دَاحِضَةٌ |
|
so that some may command work from others (43:32) |
لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا |
service |
سُخْرِيٌّ |
|
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold (43:71) |
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِصِحَافٍ مِّن ذَهَبٍ |
plates |
صَحْفَةٌ ج صِحَافٌ |
|
Like murky oil, it boils within bellies (44:45) |
كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ |
boil |
غَلَى-يَغْلِي (غَلْيٌ) |
|
Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water.) 44:48) |
ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ |
pour over |
صَبَّ-يَصُبُّ (صَبٌّ) |
|
Bring me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if you should be truthful (46:4) |
ائْتُونِي بِكِتَابٍ مِّن قَبْلِ هَـٰذَا أَوْ أَثَارَةٍ مِّنْ عِلْمٍ |
trace |
أَثَارَةٌ (أَثرَ-يُؤْثرُ) |
|
This is a cloud bringing us rain! (46:24) |
قَالُوا هَـٰذَا عَارِضٌ مُّمْطِرُنَا |
rain |
مُمْطِرٌ |
|
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. (89:26) |
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ |
binding |
وَثَاقٌ |
|
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. (89:26) |
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ |
bind |
أَوْثَقَ-يُوْثِقُ |
|
rivers of purified honey, (47:15) |
وَأَنْهَارٌ مِّنْ عَسَلٍ مُّصَفًّى |
Honey |
عَسَلٌ |
|
rivers of water unaltered (47:15) |
فِيهَا أَنْهَارٌ مِّن مَّاءٍ غَيْرِ آسِنٍ |
not polluted |
آسِنٌ |
|
We send down from the sky pure water (25:48) |
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً طَهُورًا |
pure |
طَهُورٌ |
|
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart (৩৭:৮৪) |
إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ |
Sound |
سَلِيمٌ |
|
What has he said just now? (47:16) |
مَاذَا قَالَ آنِفًا |
just now |
آنِفٌ |
|
but you will surely know them by the tone of [their] speech (47:30) |
وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ فِي لَحْنِ الْقَوْلِ |
the tone of [their] speech |
لَحْنٌ |
|
The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell (9:35) |
يَوْمَ يُحْمَىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ |
Apply pressure, be flexible |
أَحْفَى- يُحْفِي |
|
who disbelieved had put into their hearts chauvinism (48:26) |
إِذْ جَعَلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْحَمِيَّةَ |
chauvinism |
حَمِيَّةٌ |
|
they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the farmers (48:29) |
فَاسْتَغْلَظَ فَاسْتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِ يُعْجِبُ الزُّرَّاعَ |
grow firm |
اسْتَغْلَظَ-يَسْتَغْلِظُ |
|
there would befall you because of them dishonor without [your] knowledge (48:25) |
فَتُصِيبَكُم مِّنْهُم مَّعَرَّةٌ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ |
dishonor |
مَعَرَّةٌ |
|
ndeed, those who call you, [O Muhammad], from behind the chambers (49:4 |
يُنَادُونَكَ مِن وَرَاءِ الْحُجُرَاتِ |
chamber |
حُجْرَةٌ ج حُجُرَاتٌ |
|
but Allah has endeared to you the faith (49:7) |
حَبَّبَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْإِيمَانَ |
Endeared |
حَبَّبَ-يُحَبِّبُ |
|
has made hateful to you disbelief, defiance and disobedience. (49:7) |
وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكُفْرَ |

اغْتَابَ-يَغْتِيبُ |
|
[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip (68:11) |
هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ |

هُمَزَةٌ ، هَمَّازٌ |
|
Woe to every scorner and mocker (104:1) |
وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ |

لُمَزَةٌ |
|
[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip (68:11) |
هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ |

|
We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein (50:16) |
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ |

|
Then We would have cut from him the aorta. (69:46) |
لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِينَ |

وَتِينٌ |
|
His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress (50:27) |
قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ |

أَطْغَى-يُطْغِي |
|
By the heaven containing pathways (51:7) |
وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِ |

حِبَاكٌ ج حُبُكٌ |
|
all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming (21:33) |
كُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ |
Orbit |
فَلَكٌ |
|
And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman (51:29) |
فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ |

صَكَّ-يَصُكُّ |
|
And the earth We have spread out (51:48) |
وَالْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا |
spread out |
فَرَشَ-يَفْرُشُ |
|
In parchment spread open (52:3) |
فِي رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ |
Parchment |
رَقٌّ |
|
And [by] the sea filled [with fire] (52:6) |
وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ |
filled [with fire] |
مَسْجُورٌ |
|
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say] (52:13) |
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا |
Thrust |
دَعٌّ (دَعَّ-يَدُعُّ) |
|
by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman (52:29) |
فَمَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ |
Soothsayer |
كَاهِنٌ |
|
we await a misfortune of time (52:30) |
نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ |
Misfortune |
مَنُونٌ |
|
And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer (53:9) |
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ |

قَابٌ |
|
And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer (53:9) |
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ |

قَوْسٌ |
|
That is their sum of knowledge (53:30) |
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ |
Sum |
مَبْلَغٌ |
|
Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones (53:32) |
الَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ إِلَّا اللَّمَمَ |
[committing] slight ones |
لَمَمٌ |
|
you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. (53:32) |
وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ |
Fetuses |
جَنِينٌ ج أَجِنَّةٌ |
|
And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails (54:13) |
وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ |
Nails |
دِسَارٌ ج دُسُرٌ |
|
But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her] (54:29) |
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ |
Dared |
تَعَاطَى |
|
and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen (54:31) |
فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ |

مُحْتَظِرٌ |
|
The Day they are dragged into the Fire on their faces (54:48) |
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ |
Dragged |
سَحَبَ-يَسْحبُ |
|
Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire (44:47) |
خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ |
Drag |
عَتل- يَعْتِلُ |
|
We will surely drag him by the forelock (96:15) |
لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ |

سَفِعَ-يَسْفَعُ |
