Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow. (2:67) |
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً |
cow |
بَقَرَةٌ (ج) بَقَرَاتٌ، بَقَرٌ |
He said, "I seek refuge in Allah.” (2:67) |
قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ |
seek refuge |
عَاذَ-يَعُوْذُ |
And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection. (9:6) |
وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ |
seek protection |
اِسْتَجَارَ-يَسْتَجِيْرُ |
And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. (41:36) |
وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ |
seek refuge |
اِسْتَعَاذَ-يَسْتَعِيْذُ |
Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you might use reason.(2:242) |
كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ |
announce, state, make clear |
بَيَّنَ-يُبَيِّنُ |
Or am I [not] better than this one who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear? (43:52) |
أَمْ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ |
show, appear, explain |
أَبَانَ-يُبِيْنُ |
Look how we diversify the verses; then they [still] turn away. (7:46) |
انظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُونَ |
Vent, exhange |
صَرَّفَ-يُصَرِّفُ |
And We had certainly brought them a Book which We detailed by knowledge. (7:52) |
وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَاهُم بِكِتَابٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ |
divide, split, separate, explaining seperately |
فَصَّلَ-يُفَصِّلُ (تَفْصِيلٌ) |
Explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions. (12:43) |
أَفْتُونِي فِي رُؤْيَايَ إِن كُنتُمْ لِلرُّؤْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ |
indicate, express |
عَبَرَ-يَعْبُرُ |
Explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions. (12:43) |
أَفْتُونِي فِي رُؤْيَايَ إِن كُنتُمْ لِلرُّؤْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ |
issue a fatwa |
أَفْتَى-يُفْتِي |
Neither old nor virgin. (2:68) |
لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ |
old |
فَارِضٌ |
And our father is an old man. (28:23) |
وَأَبُونَا شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ |
leader, elder, old man |
شَيْخٌ (ج) شُيُوْخٌ |
Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? (73:17) |
فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًا يَجْعَلُ الْوِلْدَانَ شِيبًا |
hoariness, gray hair |
شَيْبٌ |
She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? (11:72) |
قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتَىٰ أَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا عَجُوزٌ وَهَٰذَا بَعْلِي شَيْخًا |
hag, mean old woman, oldster |
عَجُوزٌ |
And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. (35:11) |
وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِن مُّعَمَّرٍ وَلَا يُنقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهِ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ |
durable, perennial |
مُعَمَّرٌ |
Neither old nor virgin. (2:68) |
لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ |
virgin, |
بِكْرٌ (ج) أَبْكَارٌ |
And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy. (19:12) |
وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا |
boy, kid, adolescent, lad |
صَبِيٌ |
Neither old nor virgin, but median between that. (2:68) |
لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ |
median |
عَوَانٌ |
They said, "Call upon your Lord to show us what is her color." (2:69) |
قَالُوا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا لَوْنُهَا |
colour |
لَوْنٌ (ج) أَلْوَانٌ |
And who is better than Allah in [ordaining] religion? (2:138) |
وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ صِبْغَةً |
dye, pigment, tincture |
صِبْغَةٌ |
He says, ‘It is a yellow cow’. (2:69) |
يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ صَفْرَاءُ |
yellow |
صَفْرَاءُ (ج) صُفْرٌ |
Bright in color - pleasing to the observers. (2:69) |
فَاقِعٌ لَّوْنُهَا تَسُرُّ النَّاظِرِينَ |
bright |
فَاقِعٌ |
Bright in color - pleasing to the observers. (2:69) |
فَاقِعٌ لَّوْنُهَا تَسُرُّ النَّاظِرِينَ |
gladden, please |
سَرَّ-يَسُرُّ |
So let not the enemies rejoice over me. (7:150) |
فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِيَ الْأَعْدَاءَ |
gloat over, crow over, crow |
أَشْمَتَ-يُشْمِتُ |
Like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers. (57:20) |
كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ |
please, appeal to |
أَعْجَبَ-يُعْجِبُ |
[It is a cow]Neither trained to plow the earth nor to irrigate the field. (2:71) |
لَّا ذَلُولٌ تُثِيرُ الْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِي الْحَرْثَ |

لَّا ذَلُولٌ تُثِيرُ الْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِي الْحَرْثَ |
plow, stir |
أَثَارَ-يُثِيْرُ |
And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? (56:63) |
أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ |
plow, cultivate, farm |
حَرَثَ-يَحْرُثُ |
[Joseph] said, "You will plant for seven years consecutively. (12:47) |
قَالَ تَزْرَعُونَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ دَأَبًا |
cultivation, planting, implantation, sowing, |
زَرعَ-يَزْرَعُ |
The sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. (48:29) |
يُعْجِبُ الزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ الْكُفَّارَ |
farmer, sower, planter |
زَارِعٌ (ج) زَرَّاعٌ |
So he watered [their flocks] for them. (28:24) |
فَسَقَىٰ لَهُمَا |
water, give to drink |
سَقَى-يَسْقِي (سُقْيٌ) |
And if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces. (18:29) |
وَإِن يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغَاثُوا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ |
helping by rain, succor |
أَغَاثَ-يُغِيثُ |
If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance (72:16) |
لَّوِ اسْتَقَامُوا عَلَى الطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَاهُم مَّاءً غَدَقًا |
irrigate, water, give to drink |
أَسْقَى-يُسْقِي |
Neither trained to plow the earth nor to irrigate the field, one free from fault with no spot upon her. (2:71) |
لَّا ذَلُولٌ تُثِيرُ الْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِي الْحَرْثَ مُسَلَّمَةٌ لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَا |
cornfield, Harvest |
حَرْثٌ |
Nor to irrigate the field, one free from fault with no spot upon her. (2:71) |
لَا تَسْقِي الْحَرْثَ مُسَلَّمَةٌ لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَا |
Spotless |
مُسَلَّمَةٌ |
One free from fault with no spot upon her. (2:71) |
لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَا |
spot, mottle |
شِيَةٌ |
So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks? (67:3) |
فَارْجِعِ الْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍ |

فُطُورٌ |
Then is it that when it has [actually] occurred you will believe in it? Now? And you were [once] for it impatient. (10:51) |
آلْآنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ |

الآنَ |
When you slew a man and disputed over it. (2:72) |
إِذْ قَتَلْتُمْ نَفْسًا فَادَّارَأْتُمْ فِيهَا |
accusing one another |
اِدَّارَأَ (تَدَارَأَ) |
Allah was to bring out that which you were concealing. (2:72) |
وَاللَّهُ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا كُنتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ |
deriver, producer |
مُخْرِجٌ |
And let my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour. (17:80) |
وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ |
way out, exit, gate |
مُخْرَجٌ (ج) مُخْرَجُوْنَ |
Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. (20:46) |
إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ |
See |
أَرَى-يُرِي |
They will be shown each other. (70:11) |
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ |
show, exhibit |
بَصَّرَ-يُبَصِّرُ |
Then your hearts became hardened after that. (2:74) |
ثُمَّ قَسَتْ قُلُوبُكُم |
become hard, indurate |
قَسَا-يَقْسُو |
So they grow firm and stand upon their stalks. (48:29) |
فَآزَرَهُ فَاسْتَغْلَظَ فَاسْتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِ |
support, sustain |
آزَرَ-يُؤَزِرُ |
Those within whose hearts is disease and those hard of heart. (22:53) |
فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَالْقَاسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ |
hard |
قَاسِيَةٌ |
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths. (16:38) |
وَأَقْسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ |
effort, labor, strive, hard work |
جَهْدٌ |
Know that Allah is severe in penalty and that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (5:98) |
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ |
severe, strong, hard, acute, |
شَدِيْدٌ (ج) شِدَادٌ، أَشِدَّاءُ |
And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. (3:159) |
وَلَوْ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ الْقَلْبِ لَانفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِكَ |
rough, rude, mannerless, ungracious, unmannerly, kindless, |
غَلِيْظٌ |
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. (69:10) |
فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً |
exceeding, augmentative, rampant |
رَابٍ، رَابِيَةٌ |
But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter. (54:46) |
بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ |
disastrous |
دَهْيٌ |
And he said, this is a trying day. (11:77) |
وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٌ |
hard, critical, crucial, grave |
عَصِيبٌ |
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. (73:16) |
فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ الرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا |
ruinous seizure , pernicious |
وَبِيلٌ |
They were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind. (69:6) |
فَأُهْلِكُوا بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ |
arrogant, insolent, violent |
عَاتِيَةٌ |
And speak to him with gentle speech. (20:44) |
فَقُولَا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَّيِّنًا |
moderate, soften, gentle |
لَيِّنٌ |
