They said :Glory be to you,we have no knowledge except what you have taught us(2-32) |
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا |
taught |
عَلَّمَ-يُعَلِّمُ |
And they learned what harmed them and did not profit them 2:102 |
وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ |
learn |
تَعَلَّمَ-يَتَعَلَّمُ |
And they have read what is in it 7:169 |
وَدَرَسُوا مَا فِيهِ |
read, learn, study |
دَرَسَ-يَدْرُسُ (دِرَاسَةٌ) |
Then they had turned away from Him and said: One taught,a madman 44:14 |
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ |
learned, trained, |
مُعَلَّمٌ |
Then He showed all the things to the angels 2:31 |
ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ |
submit |
عَرَضَ- يَعْرِضُ |
And the Fire will be placed in full view of the erring 26:91 |
وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ |
show, display |
بَرَّزَ-يُبَرِّزُ |
Then every person will know what he has brought 81:14 |
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ |
set forth, show, expose |
أَحْضَرَ-يُحْضِرُ |
Tell me the names of these if you are truthful 2:31 |
أَنبِئُونِي بِأَسْمَاءِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ |
inform,convey |
أَنْبَأَ-يُنْبِئُ |
Allah has already informed us of the news concerning you 9:94 |
قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا اللَّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ |
inform |
نَبَّأَ-يُنَبِّأُ |
Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. (10-16) |
قُل لَّوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا تَلَوْتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَا أَدْرَاكُم بِهِ |
acquaint with |
أَدْرى-يُدْرِي |
that I may mount up to the god of Moses (28-38) |
لَّعَلِّي أَطَّلِعُ إِلَىٰ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ |
inform,tell |
أَطْلَعَ-يُطْلِعُ |
They say:Shall you tell them what Allah has revealed to you 2:76 |
قَالُوا أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم بِمَا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ |
tell, describe, report, mention |
حَدَّثَ-يُحَدِّثُ |
And admit them to Paradise which He has made known to them 47:6 |
وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ |
tell,make known |
عَرَّفَ-يُعَرِّفُ |
They said:Glory be to You,we have no knowledge except what you have taught us (2-32) |
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا |
great, holy, sinless |
سُبْحَانَ |
And I know what you reveal and what you have been concealing (2-33) |
وَأَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ |
reveal, disclose, elicit |
أَبْدَى-يُبْدِي |
And Allah knows what you conceal and what you revea 16:19 |
وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ |
confess,, express |
أَعْلَنَ-يُعْلِنُ |
None can reveal its time but He 7:187 |
لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلَّا هُوَ |
exhibit, bring forth |
جَلَّى-يُجَلِّي |
He Alone the All-Knower of the Ghaib and He reveals to none His Ghaib 72:26 |
عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِ أَحَدًا |
make win, reveal |
أَظْهَرَ-يُظْهِرُ |
And that which is in the heart is made apparent 100:10 |
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ |
reveal, assemble |
حَصَّلَ- يُحَصِّلُ |
And a believing man of Firaun’s family, who hid his faith, 40:28 |
وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مُّؤْمِنٌ مِّنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَكْتُمُ إِيمَانَهُ |
conceal |
كَتَمَ-يَكْتُمُ |
And verily,your Lord knows what their heart conceal and what they reveal 27:74 |
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ |
conceal |
أَكَنَّ-يُكِنُّ |
And Allah knows what you conceal and what you reveal 16:19 |
وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ |
hide |
أَسَرَّ-يُسِرُّ (إسْرَارٌ) |
My Lord has indeed forbidden all kind of great evil sins,every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse etc. whether committed openly or secretly 7:33 |
إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَالْإِثْمَ |
be in secret, hide, indefinite |
بَطَنَ-يَبْطُنُ |
If you disclose your Sadaqat it is well,but if you conceal it,and give it to the poor,that is better for you 2:271 |
وَإِن تُخْفُوهَا وَتُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرَاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ |
hide, conceal |
أَخْفَى-يُخْفِي |
They hide themselves from men and do not hide themselves from Allah 4:108 |
يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ اللَّهِ |
be in secret, keep hidden |
اسْتَخْفَى-يَسْتَخْفِي |
And you have not been hiding against yourselves,lest your ears,and your eyes,and your skins testify against you 41:22 |
وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَن يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَا أَبْصَارُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ |
cover up with, hide, veil, hideaway |
اسْتَتَرَ-يَسْتَتِرُ |
And when We said to the angels:Prostrate yourselves before Adam..And they prostrated except Iblis (2-34) |
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ |
prostrate |
سَجَدَ-يَسْجُدُ (سُجُودٌ) |
Those who repent to Allah,who worship Him,who praise Him,who fast,who bow down,who prostrate themselves 9:112 |
التَّائِبُونَ الْعَابِدُونَ الْحَامِدُونَ السَّائِحُونَ الرَّاكِعُونَ السَّاجِدُونَ |
who bow down |
سَاجِدٌ ج سُجَّدٌ، سَاجِدُونَ |
He refused and was prouds and was one of the disbelievers (2-34) |
أَبَىٰ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ |
disbeliever |
أَبَى-يَأْبَى |
But there are among the Confederates those who reject a part thereof 13:36 |
وَمِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ مَن يُنكِرُ بَعْضَهُ |
unrecognized, unauthorized |
أَنْكَرَ-يُنْكِرُ |
And they belied them wrongfully and arrogantly,though their ownselves were convinced thereof 27:14 |
وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا |
deny, exclude, reject |
جَحَدَ- يَجْحَدُ |
|
|
be proud,crack |
اِسْتَكْبَرَ- يَسْتَكْبِرُ (اسْتِكْبَارٌ) |
Allah said:get down from this,it is not for you to be arrogant here 7:13 |
قَالَ فَاهْبِطْ مِنْهَا فَمَا يَكُونُ لَكَ أَن تَتَكَبَّرَ |
vaunt, bounce |
تَكَبَّرَ-يَتَكَبَّرُ |
And that you used to rejoice extremely 40:75 |
وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ |
brag about |
مَرَحَ-يَمْرَحُ |
Then he walked in full pride to his family admiring himself 75:33 |
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ |
walk in full pride |
تَمَطَّى-يَتَمَطَّى |
Be you not exalted against me 27:31 |
أَلَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَيَّ |
be proud |
عَلَا-يَعْلُو (عُلُوٌّ) |
And how many a town have We destroyed,which were thankless for its means of livelihood 28:58 |
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا |
pride, boast of |
بَطِرَ-يَبْطَرُ (بَطَرٌ) |
Those who rejoice for what they have done 3:188 |
الَّذِينَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَا أَتَوا |
rejoice |
فَرِحَ-يَفْرَحُ |
And His is the Majesty in the heavens and the earth (45:37) |
وَلَهُ الْكِبْرِيَاءُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ |
glory, majesty |
كٍبْرٌ، كِبْرِيَاءٌ |
But they increased them in sin and disbelief 72:6 |
فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا |
arrogance |
رَهَقٌ |
Know that the life of this word is only play and amusement,pomp and mutual boasting among you 57:20 |
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ |
pride |
تَفَاخٌرٌ |
Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allah’s reminder 57:16 |
أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَن تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ |
be polite, modest |
خَشَعَ- يَخْشَعُ (خُشُوعٌ) |
And that they may believe therein,and their hearts may submit to it with humility 22:54 |
فَيُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ فَتُخْبِتَ لَهُ قُلُوبُهُمْ |
polite, submissive |
أخْبَتَ-يُخْبِتُ |
And remember your Lord by your tongue and within yourself,humbly and with fear without loudness in words 7:205 |
وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًا وَخِيفَةً |
solicit, invoke |
تَضَرَّعَ-يَتَضَرَّعُ (تَضَرُّعٌ) |
But they humbled not themselves to their Lord,nor did they invoke with submission to Him 23:76 |
فَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ |
be modest, come polite |
اسْتَكَانَ-يَسْتَكِينُ |
|
|
be |
كَانَ-يَكُونُ |
So he became of those who regret 5:31 |
فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ النَّادِمِينَ |
spend the morning period, |
أَصْبَحَ-يُصْبِحُ |
And when the news of a female child is brought to any of them,his face becomes dark 16:58 |
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِالْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا |
permanently, start off |
ظَلَّ-يَظَلُّ |
And We said:O Adam,dwell you and your wife in the Paradise (2-35) |
وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ |
dwell |
سَكَنَ-يَسْكُنُ |
And live with women honourably 4:19 |
وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ |
live, go along with, assort |
عَاشَرَ-يُعَاشِرُ |
Those who belied Shu’aib,became as if they had never dwelt there 7:92 |
الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا |
dwell, stay |
غَنِيَ-يَغْنَى |
We can dwell in Paradise where we will 39:74

نَتَبَوَّأُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ حَيْثُ نَشَاءُ |
take harbor, dwell |
تَبَوَّأَ-يَتَبَوَّأُ |
A speaker from among them said:How long have you stayed here? 18:19 |
قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ |
stay, remain |
لَبَثَ-يَلْبَثُ |
When he saw fire,he said to his family:Stop,for surely I see a fire 20:10 |
إِذْ رَأَىٰ نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا |
live, stay |
مَكَثَ-يَمْكُثُ |
And eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will (2-35) |
وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا |
eat, consume, enjoy |
أَكَلَ-يَأْكُلُ (أَكْلٌ) |
And none should eat of them except those whom we allow 6:138 |
لَّا يَطْعَمُهَا إِلَّا مَن نَّشَاءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ |
dine, eat, devour |
طَعِمَ-يَطْعَمُ |
For its expiation feed ten poor persons 5:89 |
فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ |
feed |
أَطْعَمَ-يُطْعِمُ (إطْعَامٌ) |
Then they both proceeded,till,when they came to the people of a town,they asked them for food 18:77 |
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَتَيَا أَهْلَ قَرْيَةٍ اسْتَطْعَمَا أَهْلَهَا |
ask for food, want to eat food |
اسْتَطْعَمَ-يَسْتَطْعِمُ |
Disbelievers will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith 37:66 |
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ |
consumer, eater |
آكِلٌ ج آكِلُونَ، أَكَّالٌ ج أَكّالُون |
Say:I find not in that which has been inspired to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it 6:145 |
قُللَّاأَجِدُفِيمَاأُوحِيَإِلَيَّمُحَرَّمًاعَلَىٰطَاعِمٍيَطْعَمُهُ |
spoiler, eater |
طَاعِمٌ |
But don’t closer of that tree |
وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ |
come closer |
قَرِبَ-يَقْرَبُ |
Their reckoning has drawn near to men ; (21:1) |
اقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ |
closer |
اِقتَرَبَ-يَقْتَرِبُ |
The Day of Resurrection draws near (53:57) |
أَزِفَتِ الْآزِفَةُ |
draws near, come closer |
أَزِفَ-يَأْزَفُ |
Then he approached and came closer (53:8) |
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ |
get off, land |
تَدَلَّى-يَتَدَلَّى |
Then he approached and came closer (53:8) |
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ |
come closer |
دَنَا-يَدْنُو |
And Paradise will be brought near to the muttaqun 50:31 |
وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ |
brought near, come closer, |
أَزْلَفَ-يُزْلِفُ |
And placed a roasted calf before them and saying: Will you not eat? 51:27 |
فَقَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ |
brought near, sacrifice, |
قَرَّبَ-يُقَرِّبُ |
How could you take it back while you have gone in unto each other (4-21) |
وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ |
brought near, get together |
أَفْضَىٰ -يُفْضِي |
Say:Perhaps that which you wish to hasten on ,may be close behind you (27:72) |
قُلْ عَسَىٰ أَن يَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعْضُ الَّذِي تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ |
be accompanying |
رَدِفَ-يَرْدَفُ |
So she conceived him ,and she withdrew with him to a far place 19:22 |
فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَانتَبَذَتْ بِهِ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّا |
go far |
انْتَبَذَ-يَنْتَبِذُ |
And they prevent others from him and they themselves keep away from him 6:26 |
وَهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَيَنْأَوْنَ عَنْهُ |
run along, avoid |
نَأَى-يَنْأَى |
|
|
tree, plant |
شَجَرَةٌجشَجَرٌ |
And We converted their two gardens into gardens producing bitter bad fruit,and tamarisks 34:16 |
وَبَدَّلْنَاهُم بِجَنَّتَيْهِمْ جَنَّتَيْنِ ذَوَاتَيْ أُكُلٍ خَمْطٍ وَأَثْلٍ |
tamarisk, barren plant |
أَثْلٌ |
And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him (37:146) |
وَأَنبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ |
gourd plant |
يَقْطِينٌ |
No food will there be for them but a thorny plant (88:6) |
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ |
thorny plant |
ضَرِيعٌ |
Verily,the tree of Zaqqum (44:43) |
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ |
zaqqum tree |
زَقُّومٌ |
Or you both will be of the wrong-doers(2-35) |
فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ |
oppressive, harassing, sinner |
ظَالِمٌ، ظَلُومٌ، ظُلَّامٌ جظَالِمُونَ (ظَلَمَ-يَظْلِمُ) |
And as for the disbelievers who deviated from the right path,they shall be firewood for Hell (72:15) |
وَأَمَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا |
dispariter |
قَاسِطٌجقَاسِطُونَ |
Or do they doubt or fear lest Allah and His Messenger(SAW)should wrong them in judgement 24:50 |
أَمْ يَخَافُونَ أَن يَحِيفَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَرَسُولُهُ |
wrong, injustice, misconception |
حَافَ- يَحِيفُ |
Allah loves those who are equitable (49:9) |
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ |
justice, equity |
مُقْسِطٌ ج مُقْسِطُونَ (أَقْسَطَ-يُقْسِطُ) |
|
|
make lapsed |
أَزَلَّ-يُزِلُّ |
It was shaitan who caused them to backslide because of some they had earned (3:155) |
إِنَّمَا اسْتَزَلَّهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ بِبَعْضِ مَا كَسَبُوا |
try to stumble |
اِسْتَزَلَّ-يَسْتَزِّلُ |
He(Yusuf)said:It was she that sought to seduce me (12:26) |
قَالَ هِيَ رَاوَدَتْنِي عَن نَّفْسِي |
allure, decoy |
رَاوَدَ-يُرَاوِدُ |
So he misled them with deception (7:22) |
فَدَلَّاهُمَا بِغُرُورٍ |
confound, delude |
دَلَّى-يُدَلِّي |
