do not kill the hunted/prey while you are in pilgrim sanctity. (5-95) |
لَا تَقْتُلُوا الصَّيْدَ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ |
Hunted, prey |
صَيْدٌ |
When you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt (5-2) |
وَإِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَاصْطَادُوا |
hunt |
اِصْطَادَ-يَصْطِيدُ |
Do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you (5-2) |
وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ أَن صَدُّوكُمْ |
incite |
جَرَمَ-يَجْرِمُ |
And his soul permitted to him the murder of his brother (5-30) |
فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُ نَفْسُهُ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ |
to incite |
طَوَّعَ-يُطَوِّعُ |
Inciting them to [evil] with [constant] incitement (19-83) |
تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّا |
(with) incitement |
أَزَّ-يَؤُزُّ (أَزٌّ) |
Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy (12-53) |
إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّي |
enjoiner of evil |
أَمَّارَةٌ |
It is an expiation for him (5-45) |
فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُ |
expiation |
كَفَّارَةٌ |
Do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] (5-2) |
لَا تُحِلُّوا شَعَائِرَ اللَّهِ وَلَا الشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ وَلَا الْهَدْيَ وَلَا الْقَلَائِدَ |

قِلَادَةٌجقَلَائِدُ |
and that which is distributed by the throwing of arrows (5-3) |
وَأَن تَسْتَقْسِمُوا بِالْأَزْلَامِ |
distribute |
اِسْتَقْسَمَ- يَسْتَقْسِمُ |
And he drew lots and was among the losers. (37-141) |
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ |
drawing lots |
سَاهَمَ-يُسَاهِمُ |
Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators (15-90) |
كَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ |
separators |
مُسْتَقْسِمٌ ج مُسْتَقْسِمُونَ |
Whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin (5-3) |
فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ |
wishful, inclining |
مُتَجَانِفٌ |
What you have trained of hunting animals which you train (5-4) |
وَمَا عَلَّمْتُم مِّنَ الْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ |
who train to hunt |
مُكَلَّبٌ ج مُكَلَّبُونَ |
Wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows (5-6) |
فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ |
forearms |
مِرْفَقٌ ج مَرَافِقُ |
So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection (5-14) |
فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ |
to arouse |
أَغْرَى-يُغْرِي |
Then Allah sent a crow (5-31) |
فَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ غُرَابًا |
crow |
غُرَابٌ |
Searching in the ground (5-31) |
يَبْحَثُ فِي الْأَرْضِ |
search |
بَحثَ-يَبْحَثُ |
To show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother (5-31) |
لِيُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يُوَارِي سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ |
show |
وَارَى-يُوَارِي |
Because of the evil of the good news he hides himself from people, (16-59) |
يَتَوَارَىٰ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ مِن سُوءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِ |
hide |
تَوَارَى-يَتَوَارَى |
And they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise (20-121) |
وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ |
to fasten, to sew |
خَصَفَ-يَخْصِفُ |
So remove your sandals (20-12) |
فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ |
to remove |
خَلَعَ-يَخْلَعُ |
To show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother (5-31) |
لِيُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يُوَارِي سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ |
corpse |
سَوْأَةٌ |
Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel (5-32) |
مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |
because of |
أَجْلٌ |
Or that they be exiled from the land(5-33) |
أَوْ يُنفَوْا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ |
exile |
نَفَا-يَنْفُو |
And if not that Allah had decreed for them evacuation(59-3) |
وَلَوْلَا أَن كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجَلَاءَ |
evacuation |
جَلَاءٌ |
Seek the means [of nearness] to Him(5-35) |
وَابْتَغُوا إِلَيْهِ الْوَسِيلَةَ |
nearness |
وَسِيلَةٌ |
[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands (5-38) |
وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمَا |

سَارِقٌ (سَارِقَةٌ) ج سَارِقُونَ |
They said, "If he steals - a brother of his has stolen before." (12-77) |
قَالُوا إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ |
steal |
سَرَقَ-يَسْرِقُ |
Except one who steals a hearing (15-18) |
إِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ |
steal, eavesdrop |
اِسْتَرَقَ-يَسْتَرِقُ |
listen eagerly to any lies (5-41) |
سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ |
listen eagerly |
سَمَّاعٌ ج سَمَّاعُونَ |
and do not seek faults (49-12) |
وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا |
act of spying, seeking one’s fault
|
تَجَسَّسَ-يَتَجَسَّسُ |
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] (37-8) |
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ |
listen
|
تَسَمَّعَ-يَسَّمَّعُ |
By that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah (5-44) |
بِمَا اسْتُحْفِظُوا مِن كِتَابِ اللَّهِ |
entrust |
اسْتَحْفَظَ-يَسْتَحْفِظُ |
A nose for a nose (5-45) |
وَالْأَنفَ بِالْأَنفِ |

أَنْفٌ |
We will brand him upon the snout. (68-16) |
سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ |

خُرْطُومٌ |
A tooth for a tooth (5-45) |
وَالسِّنَّ بِالسِّنِّ |

سِنٌّ |
To each of you We prescribed a law and a method (5-48) |
لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا |

شِرْعَةٌ |
And now, We have set you on the jurisprudence of the Command (45-18) |
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْرِ |
Jurisprudence, course of the Law |
شَرِيعَةٌ |
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah (42-13) |
شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِ نُوحًا |
legislate |
شَرَعَ-يَشْرَعُ |
And do not fear the blame of a critic (5-54) |
وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ |
criticism |
لَوْمَةٌ |
She said, "That is the one about whom you blamed me (12-32) |
قَالَتْ فَذَٰلِكُنَّ الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ |
blame, slander |
لَامَ-يَلُومُ |
Then they approached one another, blaming each other. (68-30) |
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ |
blaming each other |
تَلَاوَمَ-يَتَلَاوَمُ |
And do not fear the blame of a critic(5-54) |
وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ |

لَائِمٌ |
Lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished (17-39) |
فَتُلْقَىٰ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومًا مَّدْحُورًا |

مَلُومٌ ج مَلُومُونَ |
And [thereby] become censured and forsaken (17-22) |
فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُومًا مَّخْذُولًا |
censured |
مَذْمُومٌ |
and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) (37-142) |
وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ |
blamed, blameworthy |
مُلِيمٌ |
Who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement (5-57) |
الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا |
amusement |
لَعِبٌ (لَعِبَ-يَلْعَبُ) |
And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion (6-32) |
وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ |
diversion |
لَهْوٌ |
Then did you think that We created you uselessly (23-115) |
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا |
uselessly, futility, pointless |
عَبَثٌ (عَبَثَ-يَبْعَثُ) |
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play. (21-16) |
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ |
(for) playing |
لَاعِبٌ ج لَاعِبُونَ |
While you are proudly sporting? (53-61) |
وَأَنتُمْ سَامِدُونَ |
aloof |
سَامِدٌ ج سَامِدُونَ |
The hand of Allah is chained (5-64) |
يَدُ اللَّهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ |
chained |
مَغْلُولَةٌ |
Rather, both His hands are extended (5-64) |
بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ |
extended |
بِسَاطٌ، مَبْسُوطَةٌ |
Who stretches his hands toward water (13-14) |
كَبَاسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَى الْمَاءِ |
who stretches |
بَاسِطٌ |
As if they were locusts spreading (54-7) |
كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ |
spreading |
مُنْتَشِرٌ |
And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] (77-3) |
وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا |
spread |
نَاشِرَةٌ ج نَاشِرَاتٌ |
That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant (5-82) |
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ مِنْهُمْ قِسِّيسِينَ وَرُهْبَانًا وَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ |

رَاهِبٌ ج رُهْبَانٌ |
And monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them (57-27) |
وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ |
monasticism |
رَهْبَنِيَّةٌ |
you observe their eyes overflowing with tears (5-83) |
تَرَىٰ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ |
overflow |
فَاضَ-يَفِيضُ |
you observe their eyes overflowing with tears (5-83) |
تَرَىٰ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ |
tears |
دَمْعٌ |
That your hands and spears [can] reach (5-94) |
تَنَالُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَرِمَاحُكُمْ |
spears |
رُمحٌ ج رِمَاحٌ |
Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers (5-96) |
وَطَعَامُهُ مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِلسَّيَّارَةِ |
traveler |
سَيَّارَهٌ |
And the caravan was lower [in position] than you (8-42) |
وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ |
the caravan, passengera |
رَكْبٌ |
And when the caravan departed (12-94) |
وَلَمَّا فَصَلَتِ الْعِيرُ |
the caravan |
عِيرٌ |
Allah has not appointed [such innovations as] bahirah or sa'ibah or wasilah or ham (5-103) |
مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مِن بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَائِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ |
bahirah |
بَحِيرَةٌ |
Allah has not appointed [such innovations as] bahirah or sa'ibah or wasilah or ham (5-103) |
مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مِن بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَائِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ |
sa'ibah |
سَائِبَةٌ |
Allah has not appointed [such innovations as] bahirah or sa'ibah or wasilah or ham (5-103) |
مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مِن بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَائِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ |
wasilah |
وَصِيلَةٌ |
Allah has not appointed [such innovations as] bahirah or sa'ibah or wasilah or ham (5-103) |
مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مِن بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَائِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ |

حَامٍ |
They will surely say, "What detains it?"(11-8) |
لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ |
detain |
حَبَسَ- يَحْبِسُ |
But if you are prevented, then [offer] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals(2-196) |
فَإِنْ أُحْصِرْتُمْ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِ |
obstructed, confined |
أَحْصَرَ-يُحْصِرُ |
But if it is found that those two were guilty of perjury (5-107) |
فَإِنْ عُثِرَ عَلَىٰ أَنَّهُمَا اسْتَحَقَّا إِثْمًا |
worthy, deserved |
استَحَقَّ-يَسْتَحِقُّ |
Can your Lord send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven? (5-112) |
أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ |
table spread with food |
مَآئِدَةٌ |
that shall be a festival for us (5-114) |
تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدًا |
