In nominal sentence for negation,    مَا   is used.  مَا    makes Khabar mansub.  Often  بِ  is used after  مَا.

مَا الْبَيْتُ بِجَدِيْدٍ

مَا الْبَيْتُ جَدِيْدًا

اَلْبَيْتُ جَدِيْدٌ

the house is not new

the house is not new

the house is new

مَا أَنَا بِمُدَرِّسٍ

مَا أَنَا مُدَرِّسًا

أَنَا مُدَرِّسٌ

I am not teacher

I am not teacher

I am teacher

 

مَا عِنْدِي سَيَّارَةٌ

عِنْدِيْ سَيَّارَةٌ

 

I have no car

I have a car

 

In the circumstances where there is double negation مَا is used for the 1st one and لَا  is used for the 2nd one.

 

 I have neither a book nor a pen

مَا عِنْدِيْ قَلَمٌ وَ لَا كِتَابٌ

he is neither a tiger nor a bear

مَا هُوَ بَبْرًا وَ لَا دُبًّا

he is neither a teacher nor a student

مَا هُوَ مُدَرِّسًا وَ لَا طَالِبًا

so, there is neither any power nor any helper for him

فَمَا لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ

 

Again sometimes two لَا  is used.

so, neither they have any fear nor they will be worried

فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
