اِسْمٌ  is Indefinite ( نَكِرَةٌ ) or definite (مَعْرِفَةٌ) . If تَنْوِيْنٌ  comes after common noun  then it is indefinite, example-  كِتَابٌ a book, كُرْسِيٌّ a chair,  بَيتٌ a house etc.

Indefinite اِسْمٌ can be definite if اَلْ  is added, in that case one harkat of  تَنْوِيْنٌ will be omitted.
