النَّاقِصُ or Naqis verb

النَّاقِصُ verb, where the ل kalima is weak. It means last letter is  و or ي . In written form و is changed with  ا (alif) and ي  with ى (alif maksura) or  ي is remained. Example:

Points to be noted

· In the case of a third person dual form, the root letter و is present.

· In the case of the third person, plural form ل kalima will vanish. example- دَعَوُوْا  >  دَعَوْا

· To prevent the difficulty due to two sukoon the weak letter of   دَعَاْتْ will be omitted and it will become دَعَتْ

· In the mutaharrik pronouns (نَ، تَ، تُمَا، تُمْ، تِ، تُمَا، تُنَّ، تُ، نَا) ل kalima  will come in its own form.

Points to be noted for the present tense form of  the النَّاقِصُ  verb:  

Marfu:

1. The ‘lam’ kalima (و  or ي) come back and the pesh on top of the lam kalima becomes sukoon. example-

2. In case of the third person, plural ل  kalima will vanish  example-

      يَدْعُوُوْنَ=> يَدْعُوْنَ  where   وُ is omitted.

      يَنْسَيُوْنَ  =>  يَنْسَوْنَ  where   يُ is omitted.

      تَدْعُوِيْنَ =>  تَدْعِيْنَ where   وُ is omitted and there cannot be pesh before ي so   عُis converted to عِ

1.If a verb ends with و  and ي then jabr on top of it will be pronounced but if it ends with ‘alif’ then jabr on top of it will not be pronounced. example-لَنْ يَدْعُوَ، لَنْ يَبْكِيَ   but لَنْ يَنْسَى

Majjum:

1.   ل kalima will vanish. example,        

لَمْ يَدْعُوْ     =>  لَمْ يَدْعُ   similarly, اُدْعُ

Quranic Example:

Moses scolded his brother, “O Aaron! What prevented you, when you saw them going astray." 20:92

قَالَ يَا هَارُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا

Have you seen the one who denies the final Judgment? 107:1

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ

Surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. 5:51

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

He said, "Lord! Surely I have called my people by night and by daytime." 71:5

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا

Thereafter We were clement towards you even after that, that possibly you would thank (Us). 2:52

ثُمَّ عَفَوْنَا عَنكُم مِّن بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

When they meet the believers they say, “We believe.” But in private they say ˹to each other˺, “Will you disclose to the believers the knowledge Allah has revealed to you 2:76

وَإِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ قَالُوا أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم بِمَا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ

they answered, “We hear and disobey.” The love of the calf was rooted in their hearts because of their disbelief. 2:93

قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَأُشْرِبُوا فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْعِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ

Even if thou wert to bring to the people of the Book all the Signs (together), they would not follow Thy Qibla; nor art thou going to follow their Qibla. 2:145

وَلَئِنْ أَتَيْتَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ بِكُلِّ آيَةٍ مَّا تَبِعُوا قِبْلَتَكَ ۚ

Whenever lightning strikes, they walk in its light, but when darkness covers them, they stand still. 2:20

كُلَّمَا أَضَاءَ لَهُم مَّشَوْا فِيهِ وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوا ۚ

And as for him who feared the station of his Lord (i.e., punishment from his lord) and forbade the self (its) prejudices. 79:40

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ

Go, (both of you), to Firaawn; (Pharaoh) surely he has tyrannized. 20:43

اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ

We cannot give (our flocks) to drink till the shepherds return from the water. 28:23

قَالَتَا لَا نَسْقِي حَتَّىٰ يُصْدِرَ الرِّعَاءُ

When He decrees a matter, He simply tells it, “Be!” And it is! 2:117

وَإِذَا قَضَىٰ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ

Say, “I truly fear—if I were to disobey my Lord—the torment of a tremendous Day.” 39:13

قُلْ إِنِّي أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

but when they reached the place where the two seas meet, they had forgotten all about their fish. 18:61

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَا مَجْمَعَ بَيْنِهِمَا نَسِيَا حُوتَهُمَا

Their recompense is with their Lord: Gardens of Adn (Eden) from beneath which rivers run, eternally (abiding) therein forever. Allah is satisfied with them, and they are satisfied with Him. That is for him who is apprehensive of his Lord. 98:8

جَزَاؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۖ رَّضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ

Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are telling the truth?’15:7

لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

He will burn in a flaming Fire. 111:3

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ

a messenger from God, reading out pages [blessed with] purity. 98:2

رَسُولٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ يَتْلُو صُحُفًا مُّطَهَّرَةً

while he fears (Allah) 80:9

وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ

And Hell-Fire is brought forth for whoever sees. 79:36

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ

And certainly many partners wrong each other 38:24

وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْخُلَطَاءِ لَيَبْغِي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ
